It’s a daily diet -- reports of over-the-top corporate profits and more than over-the-top executive salaries, bonuses and stock options. At the same time, plants close, thousands of middle managers and line workers lose their jobs and benefits fade.

For 85-year-old founder and chairman of Chick-Fil-A, Truett Cathy, now in his sixtieth year running the company, corporate and executive greed should not be tolerated.

"I think they should pay the price, and not walk off with millions or billions of dollars to let other people suffer because of their trust in their company," Cathy said. "The CEO has an obligation to his people and particularly to the stockholders, that their investment is protected and cared for, and he should be the last one to walk off with zero. He’s got to see that everyone else gets their share."

Without naming names, Cathy feels strongly that corporate wrongdoers should pay the price.

"I think they should be ashamed of themselves. I really do feel if you leave other people with empty pockets and they bring in all the cash, I think they should be charged with some sort of punishment," said Cathy.

For Cathy, the formula for his privately-held company puts employees first. More than 73 percent of Chick-Fil-A’s 1,250 store managers worked for the company in high school or college, and all young employees get college scholarships after two years of working at least 20 hours a week.

"People ask me, 'Why don’t you retire'," Cathy said. "Why retire from doing something I enjoy doing? I’m only 85, so I figure I got a lot of good years ahead of me."

If much of the corporate world is run by men just like Truett Cathy, then things would have been very, very different today.

Damn those modern selfish corporate hogs and their selfish attitudes.
