How are they to pay back their loans? Kids have been sold a bill of sale - and they are really just kids who have no real knowledge of finances. Parents have little knowledge themselves or they wouldn't also be in hock up to their necks. Buy now and pay later... Well, your acquaintance sucks. But, that's not the majority. I think most do want to do the right thing. We pushed our kids to field which they would enjoy and also make a good living. One just graduated from college in May (engineering) and got a great job working for a military contractor. The other is working on a PhD in engineering. There are majors to explore and then there are majors which aren't worth the paper and ink they are written upon. Then, there are decent people who need the money and shysters like your friend. You can't lump everyone together. Besides, prison really should be for those who are a danger to society and not deadbeats. It costs less to pay welfare than house them in prison. |

He is now collecting welfare and has no intention of paying off his student loan. People like that piss me right off. Grrrr. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46189676 Single minded retarded sheep! There are so many factors you are not considering (because it suits your 'Agenda')... Go and get 30 McNuggets and have a quiet one tonight. |

I am more upest that college is set up to lead the masses into forced debt, or the selling off of their future labor that enslaves them to corporate America. This is all by design, sir. I think folk should know what their final tally is potentially going to be, before they sign on the dotted line. Most college kids have no clue what they're signing, nor do they have a feel for the future job market they are embarking on. School loans are a bad business decision right off the bat. We've been so prejudiced against good vocations that pay better than most jobs provided for the so called collge graduate, we push our noses in the air regarding those opportunities. We've been told that it's more prestigious to go the college route. What a crock!!!! I say go to school because it is your desire, not because it is the prerequisite to getting some job, or entering into some career. College is nothing more than workforce traing looking to press out souless 'yes men', who sold of their future labor. They (the corporations ) want those who need a job, rather the ones who want a job. A debtor's prison is not the solution... If that was the case...there would be a whole lot of medical doctors, as they are biggest school loan defaulters. |
