What a fuckin moron!! Circumcision is physical. Changing your mind about a faith, dogma, religion, belief, etc., is a mental act. Who teaches you this crap?

You mock what you do not understand. And you have the kindness to call me moron, without caps, at least give me caps. Anyhow, the example I give you is physical as you complain, in Christian Scripture the heart is considered circumcised by Gods Holy Spirit when born again. You can not undo a circumcised heart anymore than you can undo a circumcised man. afro

Re: A thread for former Christians.
OP thank you for posting this thread I am also no longer a christian and after sifting through the replies here I am sickened by those who say they are christian and assault you with their HATE here. I was raised a christian (and there are superb christians out there) but as some of these replies show there are those who are full of evil and think we will all burn forever in hell (and those who feel glad they will not (in thier warped beliefs) anyhow I started going to many churches loooking for answers when in my 20s I even converted to Judaism later on. I believe there is a creator I believe there is evil I believe in spiritual things I also do not feel one religion has all the truth, nor is one group going to have a better afterlife because someone died on a cross and they drink his blood annually (or whenever) For those who want to knock the aliens you need to look into a few WELL KNOWN pieces of artwork from way back with Jesus in it there were alien spaceships placed in some. I am not saying I do or do not believe in Jesus I just Know he was not what the Christian bible makes him out to be. I think He himself would disagree with alot of the way things were twisted (nicean creed) by the rulers or what have you. I do believe in the golden rule, I also believe there are MANY things to learn and by keeping our minds closed to all but one belief system only hinders us and makes for people who feel they are better than other folks.

Re: A thread for former Christians.
Question for all you "formers".

Have you been viewed as an atheist by religious people since you no longer are "Christian"?

I have been. I have to constantly tell them that just because I don't believe in THEIR god doesn't mean I don't believe in THE God.

They believe THEIR god of the bible is the only one, so if you don't believe in "him" then by default you are an atheist.

Or are you now atheist?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37239118

That's something x-tians will never understand. When you wake up you begin to know instead of believe. The bible tells them straight to their face (but they are too blind to see it), that the Creator is in all things Created. If you cannot find the Creator (God) in the great outdoors, you sure as hell won't find God in some damn man-made building called a church. Here's something else you x-tians should pay attention to:

“Know ye not that ye (the body) are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you (the body)?” 1 Cor. 3:16

The Spirit of God dwells within EVERYONE!!! It matters not if you are x-tian, muslim, jew, atheist, buddist, and on and on and on. Why is that so damn hard for you to understand?

Re: A thread for former Christians.
Zip, our views are very similar. I also believe in GOD and would label myself a diest. I beleive the character of Jesus, as portrayed in the bible, is a composite of a number of first century "Deliverers" of the Jews.

In the Dead Sea Scrolls there is a man called the "Teacher of Righteousness" who I believe was the main personality that was borrowed to build the Jesus of the bible. It is very telling that there are no first person historical references of a "Jesus" from any historians of the time. NONE, ZERO, ZIP, NADA.

The ONE reference in Josephus, has been proven to be a forgery and later addition to the text.

Anyway, just one more yellow brick......

Have you ever read the Nag Hammadi texts?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37239118

I have not read the Nag Hammadi texts but I know I need to. I am going to look into that when I get home from work tonight.

Thanks for the info. Loving your posts...

I'm just beginning to read "Antiquity Unveiled" and in it it says that both the Jesus and Paul characters were borrowed from Apollonius of Tyana. He was one of the greatest mystics of the 1st century and was the leader of the Essenes. It is his writings and teachings that have been twisted and distorted in the bible, with deliberate breaks here and there and are filled with spurious interpolations to incorporate statements that Paul never made. The story of Apollonius appears in the works of Philostratus and in "Antiquity Unveiled” and in "The Gospel of Apollonius.”

Re: A thread for former Christians.
OP, kudos for your courage. Isn't it amazing how you specified "FORMER" Christians and then all those Christians mobbed you?

What clinched it for me was the sexism in Christianity (and all major religions). There is no way a loving god is patriarchal.

Sorry, no one is going to bully me into heaven.

If they've got something so great, why are they selling it so hard? Shouldn't it be self-evident?

I am a former, age 64. Very devout for many years. Been a spiritual seeker all my life, had many experiences. What clinched it for me was the sexism in Christianity (and all major religions). There is no way a loving god is patriarchal.

Also the things already mentioned - fear-based, brainwashing, cultish, mind-controlling, etc., etc. You can see it so clearly in some of the posts here. Sorry, no one is going to bully me into heaven.

You go on wit yo bad self, OP. I agree completely.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32008295

Great post!!!! Loved it!!

You know what I think about why they can't stand for someone to leave the flock...because deep down they know it might be crap but they are too afraid to leave. They are too afraid to step away from the familiar, too afraid of what their family and friends will think. Too afraid of their "loving God". They are so afraid that they won't even listen to someone that has done tons of research and has come to the same conclusion that we have. They have lost the ability to think on their own and rely on others to tell them what to think and say and how to act. So sad really. And many of them don't understand that you can still believe in a creator without being so dependent on religion. It is either be a Christian or an atheist...no other options available.

Anyway congrats to you! Loved the bully into heaven comment. I feel exactly the same way.

Thanks beebee! Great contributions to the thread. You have read much more about this than I have. I am flying by the seat of my pants and my gut feelings. I also had a spiritual experience that blew my socks off. It is very hard to put into words and I have a very hard time explaining it. When I try, I cannot convey the wonder of it, so I rarely even try.

Re: A thread for former Christians.
grammar nazis, they attack because they have learned a certain way it should be.

the same with so called christians.

its a psychological thing. (IMO) the mind thinks something is out of order when it does not match what it has been taught or has previously observed.

it can get quit nasty about it too and that is why so many so called christians can seemingly be the most vile and hateful people around.

its not just grammar nazis and christians.. its anyone who has a mind. this is why it is so wonderful when we finally realize that we have been programed/brainwashed. because from that point we can begin to examine things that we could not before with less prejudice (pre-judgment)

it may be right or it may be wrong but after we realize we have been programed we have more power to determine this for ourselves.

this is why christians seem ignorant (remember I/we were too)

believing ANYTHING is the height of ignorance! I am not bashing anyone here I am trying to help OK

so many zoomed in on the word christians in the title of this thread and that is why they are here. they cant see the forrest for the trees.

I honestly done understand how anyone can do any real research into the new world order, ufo's and the occult and not become a Christian. it seems utterly impossible to me. you must not have done a proper amount of research sorry. it invevitably comes down to a simple misunderstanding of the Christian faith and ones own personal problems and sentiments on Hell, the own sin in their lives and ignorance surrounding such topics
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46410817

Why, because we have no 'PROOF' of NWO, UFOs etc..?????

That's the beauty of the Christianity trap. You simply replace 'PROOF' with the perfect solution. The word FAITH; Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
So what's the difference if you believe in a flying saucer or a man that could walk on water and raised the dead?

The Bible that you have on your shelf; are you sure you know exactly who wrote all of it, how it was written, assembled and translated? Are you sure it's all there? Are you sure nobody changed it for the 'greater good' of Christianity?

yes, I think the striving for perfection is why the mind has these types of issues.

if we are imperfect we are trying to be (really, really hard in some cases)

and if we were perfect, would we be able to accept that?

maybe the creators creation is indeed perfect as is?

I couldn't help but notice that. Perfect punctuation to boot! I had an excellent grammar teacher and to this day I still repeat to myself - I before E except after C. And then of course there's always those darn exceptions to the rules - or when it says "A" as in weigh and sleigh. And then there's one I learned much, much later in life. When 2 vowels go walking, the first one does the talking, as in "daisy." Man, we could start a new thread with this stuff. hf

The same thing happened to me this year when I had a similar awakening. You can even find my post about it in my history. The game was officially over at that point. The experience was experiential and no longer faith-based, which it had always been previously. Once I started looking into it, because at first I was SHUNNED by my former Christian friends and family, then I realized that I was on the true spiritual path and no longer subject to beliefs that really make no sense to me now. The better path is enlightenment...and I was lucky enough to find it by mere chance at a really complex time of my life. Happened suddenly and abruptly, but was the most profound experience of my life. I have you 5 *'s for the great post. T is almost comical to read the responses any more...especially when I used to be one of the same choir. This is a much better way. The way.

I have never been molested by a priest, but I have known that sort of thing goes on, people telling me about it.

why doesn't Jesus strike those people dead? I have seen the power of Jesus, I know he could do it.....if he wanted to.

all I can come up with is that Jesus actually condones it, and is behind it all.

He is the evil force behind the jews, he is Satan, but Satan is very charming, of course.

satan is not a big snarling dog-like creature, with fangs.

He is super charming and super disarming.

When non-jewish Christians get slaughted by the tens of millions, Jesus steps out for a few years, and lets it happen, but seems to protect the jews who cause it.

and also, Jesus ate my sandwich.

How many pages since my post?

The discussion is all about resentment, at least from those honest enough to post why they decided to abandon God's Banner to the world: Christianity...

Only one God in history has had interaction with humanity: YahWeh, Jehovah, Elohim, The Father and HIS SON WHO Became Man.

God ain't doing it your way, eh? "No way God is patriarchal" the broad posts. Except such is The Nature HE Chose to Interact with us. Rubs you the wrong way? You must really have a lot of fun trying to make everything in your realm conform to your requirements.

Resentment. Anger so deep-seated you can't deal with the source on a reasonable basis.

Only ONE REAL and Living God: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

The real bitch of the situation is that only The Father Can Deliver you from your self-will and carnal-error. Blaming God for your troubles and disappointments is not only dishonest with yourself it is disingenuous. God didn't Guide you to make the decisions you made that ruined your life and God didn't Guide you to have relationships with others that failed and disappointed. You did all that on your own...

Your really your own worst enemy.

It is pretty plain to see that most Christians in this Laodicean age are making pretenses, not living their lives IN God's Accord. Yet, such circumstance is typical as you would discover were you able to Love God and Trust HIM enough to let HIM Guide your life.

Christianity isn't about being buddies and going to church often, it is about coming to the decision that you can give your life to The Father and taking action to do so.

Jesus Says, "Marvel not that I say unto you, Ye MUST BE Born-Again!" John 3:7

Never were, were you?
So you quit on God and reject what you are unwilling to seek...

But God will NOT give up on you... If you ever Loved Jesus with a True heart, even if only as a child, you will not be lost or condemned...

Pity you can't find it in your heart to Trust HIM and open your heart Unto HIM in earnest & sincere prayer.

As one who has was at his bottom when there was no other option but surrender, I can attest to HIS Reality and the Mercy and Grace HE Will Provide if only we make an effort.

T is almost comical to read the responses any more...especially when I used to be one of the same choir. This is a much better way. The way.

I remember your thread too. I need to go back and read the whole thing again.

Anyway welcome to this one. Would love to hear more from you.

Re: A thread for former Christians.

You think you have it us all figured out. How could you possibly know what we have gone through? You haven't lived our lives. You think everything is so damn simple. Well, it's not. People are more complex than you give us credit for. We are not damn robots, we have minds of our own and are led to different paths. You go your way and we will go ours. I am not trying to bring you over to my side. If that does it for you, go for it. Give me the same courtesy.

Well said Zip. Just look at the attitude of the above post. Does it embody Christian love or self righteous snobbery? Lester epitomizes why so many people leave the faith.

Re: A thread for former Christians.
Lester, you make this snobby statement...

"Pity you can't find it in your heart to Trust HIM and open your heart Unto HIM in earnest & sincere prayer."

This is EXACTLY what all of us " formers" have done...and we are EXACTLY where GOD gave us guidance.

The pity is that you aren't spiritually mature enough to accept that truth.

That is when I started learning more about aliens, The NWO, 911 etc etc..all the things that brought me to GLP in the first place. It was like I was guided to find more truths after my spiritual awakening.

I am not an atheist. I believe in a creator. But in no way am I a Christian. I don't believe in hell. I don't believe that a loving God would send me to hell for being human. I hate the blackmailing and threats from some Christians.

 Quoting: zip50

I've been reading the Bible for a few decades and I don't find any of what you are promoting. True there is a hell but it is no bigger deal than taking the 2nd step into the grave. Death itself is the first step and there is no avoiding that reality. The 'extra' step is specifically for sinners on the day of return so if you aren't involved in a war at that time you don't seem to qualify. ....

Are you sure your corrupted view isn't a bit intentional so that you can better fit in with the spiritual crowd that wants to avoid the supernatural beings that are all over the Bible. Once you accept that the old earth version was put there originally you tend to see that the book is 'timeless' and not shy on the details of what is not yet reality.

The Bible lets you get a lot more specific than that.` The 7 letters in Re:2 and 3 have about 14 relationships that a person can have with God. Which one did Lester break and which ones do you fit into that has God giving you a green light rather than a red one in that is just how it will work on the day the 7th trump sounds.

Re: A thread for former Christians.
I am in my fifties now, female and a former Christian.

I stopped being a Christian and became a more spiritual person about 8 years ago. I had, what I believe, was a spiritual awakening. That is when I started learning more about aliens, The NWO, 911 etc etc..all the things that brought me to GLP in the first place. It was like I was guided to find more truths after my spiritual awakening.

I would be interested to hear why some of you are no longer Christians and if one event led you to where you are today or if you just changed over time. Please share your experiences.

Re: A thread for former Christians.
OP, kudos for your courage. Isn't it amazing how you specified "FORMER" Christians and then all those Christians mobbed you?
