Continuing, John the Baptist has announced the Messiah's arrival. The Son of God's spokesman was a wild-looking, probably smelly guy the Pharisees disdained.
Frankly, I can understand their doubts. Why would Almighty God use some lunatic fanatic to announce the Messiah? It's counterintitive, they probably argued.
And if some Pharisees held out a hint of hope, this next verse nullified it.
Mark 1:9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
The Messiah submits himself to the crazy baptizer? No way. God submits to no man!
So far, everything about Jesus contradicts the Pharisees' common sense.
Quoting: SoulWinner So True!! I'm sure the Pharisees were "Politically Correct" Jesus was called "crazy" by them & most (if not all) of the prophets were consider to be the lunatic fringe.
