A while a go I was going to see a customer on a Sunday afternoon, I was wearing my normal work clothes which is black trousers and a white shirt.
My car is less than 1 year old and is black.

Nearby my customer there was a fun run and loads of roads were closed and there were traffic jams all through the diversions.
The sat nav found a route which would take me down some back streets, but would avoid the roads the runners were using.

But the road I wanted to go down was blocked off by the police. So I pulled up wound down my window and said to the officers

"I need to go down there"

I waved my company ID badge and looked straight ahead.
After a few seconds of silence and waiting, they moved the cones and drove through.


For something like this, you need to look the part, but also act it.

I attribute half my success to being in good shape, good grooming and dressing well at work. I've been promoted over many a fat slob who was smarter and more skilled than I.

I know it's BS, but a few years ago I got bumped up to First Class when flying across the world, and I was looking good, put together. And I didn't ask for it.

If I'd been dressed less, no way it would have happened. And I so appreciated that comfort. It's positively painful to fly a long way in Economy these days. UGH.

Oh not really! And I don't like to fly long distance like that anymore if I can help it.

But truth be told I never even leave the house without taking care. Sometimes I look around and just wonder how people can be so . . . well . . . SLOPPY!
