I own a rotty, when sehe was younger a jogger bumped into me and as her owner she lunged across to protect me biting his leg. I have never in my life taught her to protect me or bite for that matter yet she instinctually jumped to protect the hand that feeds her. Its instinct and fear just as much as it is how they are raised.

[VERY SAD VIDEO] I don't feel sorry for the beast. It was obviously viciously aggressive and would have harmed someone else. I'm surprised the cop didn't shoot it to put it down. It also could have had rabies or something which might explain why it attacked someone.
