HP Laptop (recent) with Win8 - help me install Win7 plz!!
I hate windows 8. It's my first laptop, bought it 2 month ago.

I'm a desktop person.

But, I want to format the laptop HD and install my win7 disc on it. It's not leting me. I hit F11 on booting.. but it wont accepts it, I mean it does but it's like a desktop..

Is it safe to just install new windows on a laptop??

If it were a desktop, I would not even ask, I'v done it countless time. But, hp install shit on their cpu so.. wondering.

If you got that 5 disc or whatever win7 disk just use the HP option f10 i think to return computer to factory condition then reinstall.

Actually I just bought a win8 hp and wanted to put my old win7 HDD in from a previous machine.

Turns out there's an option in the BIOS for LEGACY windows versions, ie if you don't enable it then you can't boot up win7 or install it (I imagine, didn't do a format just replaced hardware)

As for BIOS access, I try f10, f11, and f12 because I've noticed that some BIOS change the key. You can ALWAYS get it up with one of those, otherwise there's probably something wrong with it.

Except the BIOS won't load win7 since it's legacy. Literally done this, it's dumb.
