Why do you have to be saved?

Saved from what?

You might consider yourself a pretty okay person. Sure, you've made a few mistakes, but at least you are not as bad as so-and-so. So why do you have to be saved?

1 John 1:8,
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

The Bible tells us that we are all sinners who fall short of God's glory, this includes everyone.

So why is salvation necessary for you?

Because you are a sinner. And there is nothing that you can do in your own power to make yourself any less of a sinner in God's eyes. You need to be saved from your sinful condition. That is what the word "salvation" means. The definition for the word salvation in the dictionary reads, "Deliverance from the power or penalty of sin; redemption." We need to be redeemed.
