Anonymous Coward User ID: 44938897 Canada 10/24/2013 11:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Two cents! I dunno if this thread is outrageously gay or if it has merit (don't we have some astronomers??) but, my two cents: Buddy and I noticed Venus, whoop! But before we'd noticed Venus I told him about a bright star I'd seen at sunset (maybe a month ago) above the western horizon. Well I figured that that must've been Venus after we noticed BUT buddy and I keep checking when we remember and we're outside and this bloody star's going in the wrong direction. It was more northern less than a month ago, and now it's more S by SW. I might be way off but I thought the sun sets more in the NW during winter where in summer it sets hardcore W? If that's correct this star should've moved NW not SW.... We haven't seen it change colors, it's as bright as Venus but goes down before Venus shows up and yes, I believe it could be Arcturus but had my doubts since it was going in the other direction... |
Interdimensional warrior User ID: 48878615 United States 10/25/2013 12:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its a nearby star turning into a red giant thats about to blow the fuck up and burn us all :) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43649913 Seriously, it could be a star that as always been there doing something unexpected because to be frank, the discipline of astrophysicists is in it's flat earth stage and they know next to nothing. They don't even have the basics right and have theories which are totally inconsistent. For instance we are told all elements are created in stars from fusion, starting with hydrogen, then in the same chapter they claim te Sun as no metal core and no mention is made of heavier elements or an increasing atomic number in elements towards the core like would be expected, which would mean a metal core. :the sun must have a metal core because it has a powerful magnetic field, In short if they got caught with their pants down and got hosed by a star doing something tat defied their 'conventional wisdom" they'd cover it up. My informed guess based on what I do know is that a star has undergone an unexpected change, a sudden brightening. |
nomad User ID: 5126190 United States 10/25/2013 12:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I saw it tonight around 8:30pm in Madras, Or. I was walking from the back of the house to the front and noticed a huge bright star in the SE sky pretty low on horizon and I mean bright. I sat staring for about 5 mins then went to get my binoculars and watched for about 15 more mins and it never moved just glowed with bright orange and blue colors that seemed to be almost flowing out from it then I got my wife and sister to come and check it out, my sister said it must be a planet but if that's the case it was really really close. We stood for another 5-10 mins just watching it closely and commenting then went in. I went out 10 mins later because I could not stop thinking about how weird it looked and how it just showed up out of the blue tonight. because I go out ever night to smoke and it absolutely positively was never there before, so I walk out front and Its just gone absolutely vanished I ran in told my sister and wife and they gave me the look that says (YEAH RIGHT), well once outside there jaws just dropped and we sat there just scratching our heads. WHATS GOING ON, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A STAR PULL OFF THAT TRICK. |

I was heading North on I65 near indianapolis it was at 8:00 in my peripheral......40 degrees from the horizon...so west by southwest at 7:30pm..very bright. was that it? That's in the general area, but do not confuse the object with Venus. This thing appears to change colors from red to blue and back again at random and it changes in brightness. It sets not more than an hour or so, maybe less, than sunset. I was wondering if the International Space Station could be the culprit, the evening sun shining on it at just the right angle. |

People that typically never look into the sky. Can now all of a sudden spot something there looking for out of the millions of celestial objects in the sky. People don't even bother using a STAR app to see what it is. Now nobody has found this discovery in the entire world except on GLP. Because you aren't CRAZY your just that fucking smart. |

[I've also left out some text that doesn't seem quite relevant atm] Look, I believe that Planet X exists, but all of you people saying you're seeing some big, red object need to post some proof. A picture, video, both. And not just one day, do it daily. You can't expect anyone to take you seriously without proof. And you shouldn't be posting on here if you're not going to post proof. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1768581 One guy even said it was as bright as, or brighter, than Venus. I mean really..come on now lol. My favorite. Too bad the original audio is gone though; Same observer different day; This is the one that kicked off the thread. Ho hum compared to the others imo but with the claim by the witness that it has been observed repeatedly in the same area low on the horizon and how tiny and distant it appears with out zoom it is intriguing; Yet another one of a 'contrail' lacking the symmetry one would expect to see. Hmmm... ; Photos from different days taken by SunnnyDaze; OK here is what I got, it is a little disappointing, in print, but it was well worth the hassel to see this thing through the binoculars ... next week I will have the battery, for the attached camera ... may go buy it tomorrow, haha can't wait til you guys see this, it looked just like that vid (with the lady talking in the background who kept loosing focus) ... and exactly what JB was describing (blood chilling) sure glad he saw it first and warned us Quoting: SunnyDaze here is when it first appeared to me (all of a sudden) and what you would see "naked eye" from where I live WSW just to the right of Pike's Peak you have to look really close (or magnify) to see it [link to i272.photobucket.com] this one is closer but still with landmarks [link to i272.photobucket.com] closer a little closer [link to i272.photobucket.com] a minute later [link to i272.photobucket.com] enhanced (cropped and enlarged only) [link to i272.photobucket.com] super enhanced every witch way but loose -trying to catch that V - like I said very disappoint not to be able to capture what I saw [link to i272.photobucket.com] so sorry but my camera can not zoom in enough... but this is good enough for you to know that it is out there ... and where it is, so someone with a real camera can get a GOOD picture ... but like I said, through the binoc s - it was OUTRAGEOUS! sorry, forgot to change the date/time/stamp - still showing Aug instead of October - but the time and day is right Quoting: SunnyDaze these are not to show you anything other than its location on my horizon ... as you can see, it appears very close to the same place - above the mt and in the sky it is very faint in this shot - look to the rt of the tel pole 10/06/13 [link to i272.photobucket.com] 10/08/13 [link to i272.photobucket.com] and in this one it is also faint, (don't be distracted by the chemtrails to the left ... it is almost in the middle of the shot (slightly to the rt) and appears to have moved left from the position in the previous shots - but so did the Sun - and it seems to be the same distance from the sun - but that is the best shot I got of it tonight - within two minutes it was cover by the chem-clouds 10/19/13 [link to i272.photobucket.com] and Astro and Geo, just for you - fyi, this is what a contrail looks like with my camera [link to i272.photobucket.com] as you can see, there is a clear difference - and I know what a contrail looks like Those videos are just the best examples of what I have gleaned so far from the first 60 pages. |

And here are the full length originals from the video above. Note how the objects look remarkably similar to the objects in other videos posted in this thread. Interesting. Last Edited by BoxerLvr on 10/25/2013 02:02 PM It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense. They thus become part of the armies of the night, the purveyors of nitwittery, the retailers of intellectual junk food, the feeders on mental cardboard, for their ignorance keeps them from distinguishing nectar from sewage. — Isaac Asimov |
