Is there any one who can give the coordinates for this thing in the sky and where it's being seen (North America, Europe, Australia, wherever). If there's something there we should all be able to see it.

A better one I could not find at this moment! but if anyone still has doubt about it, that's fine with me! everything in life is a choice, so you can wake up,....or stay a sleep, and turn of 'the light' but that will NOT make it go away!! but in case you want to find it out 4 yourself, it will be waiting 4 you, just after sunset, next to the setting sun! that's what I did some weeks ago! it will find a place in your reality, because it is there, and it's part of the same universe like you are! nothing new under the sun, just exept it and deal with it! no worries, you will know it all in time! Cheers!

Can't believe I'm doing this, but clear western sky here in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Going up on the roof now with binoculars. If I see something, may get the telescope out.

Ok, I out here, looking at it w binocs and stellarium, it seems to match up with Arturus, however, it still looks dynamic and somewhat bi-lobed thru binocs. Trying to get the telescope zoomed in but it's cloudy and I'm no expert, I have it lined up in the view finder but cant get it in main view, sorry for spelling, on the ipad

On my roof a minute ago, saw venus clearly, sliver moon, and I guess mercury, but have a cloud bank about 15 degrees above the horizon and can't see anything else. Where is this in reference to this?

The moon, Venus, Saturn and Mercury as they appear from North America on October 6. Note that Mercury will be very low in the sky from northerly latitudes. Meanwhile, the Southern Hemisphere has a great view of this event!

Before night drapes the sky on the peak night of the Draconid meteor shower on October 7, look in the southwestern dusk to see the waxing crescent moon between Venus and Saturn. Again, the Southern Hemisphere has the best view here, with the planets straight above the sunset, instead leaning to one side of it.

Moon, planet Venus and star Antares at dusk on October 8. Everyone, around the world, can see these objects on this night.

Uh huh!!! OK, I'm going to stay calm and try to debunk this. I have clouds obscuring everything west and south.

Please get some good shots or report nothing....

Be honest.

What I think I've seen - I saw an object that looked almost exactly like the one in the photo on the blog last night but with a bit more of a tail through an 8 inch telescope. It also looks very similar to the object in this video. It is in the SW sky and is NOT VENUS, which is above it. It is orange. It's tail is orange/black. It is highly dynamic (the surface appears wavy).

I likely won't add much tonight as these clouds are barely moving!!

Good luck and I hope you get some great shots!!!

I am seeing it (5:30 pm mountain time) .... and have watched it move across the SWern sky, westward looking like a short comtrail - actually getting lower by the hour, it is too faint for me to get a picture of, the sun is washing it all out ... I did get a picture of Venus (at 5:20) and when I zoomed in on it, I saw two other "stars" were to the right and lower than venus, got a pretty good close up of the lowest one ... I will upload and show you later, gotta get back out there

 Quoting: Seer777

Moon Dances with Three Planets in Sky Shows on Sunday, Tuesday

The moon will meet up with three different planets in the evening sky during two upcoming celestial encounters, one on Sunday (Oct. 6) and the other on Tuesday (Oct. 8).

The ringed planet Saturn, sinking into the west-southwest twilight, is close to Mercury in early October. About 40 minutes after sunset on Sunday, try catching a glimpse of Saturn hovering about 5 degrees above a razor-thin sliver of a crescent moon that's just two days past new phase and a mere 4 percent illuminated by the sun.

This will be a challenging observation, because all three celestial objects will be very low and possibly dimmed by haze, which is seemingly always thickest down near the horizon.

Two nights later will be a different story. On Tuesday evening, the moon will be about three times higher and more than four times wider (18 percent illuminated), making it a much more obvious target to see with both binoculars and your naked eye.

And its companion will be the brightest of all planets, Venus. This dazzling evening star, shining with a radiance 48 times brighter than Mercury and 85 times that of Saturn, will be readily visible hovering about 7 degrees below and slightly to the right of the moon. In spite of the rather wide gap separating them, both will make for an eye-catching sight in the southwestern sky.

Glittering Venus flames into view soon after sunset.

Yes, that viewpoint has been well represented by those who don't even read the first line of the first post. We get it. Go away.

To the rest - the sun is still up here, but clear skies otherwise. Sadly I have no telescope but if I see anything of note I'll post it!

I just spent a week at my beach house with unimpeded view of the SW, W, NW skies.

I was impressed as well.

Which is why I looked it up on Stellarium.

It is Venus.

IT is Shining...

What do you KNOW of Venus?

Did you know the 'dance' between Earth and Venus creates this pattern?
