There REALLY IS something strange in western sky around sunset...!!!

Northern Maine checking in again. Only the third time in the past 17 days that there was a pretty clear view of the western horizon.

Saw the object for 30 seconds only at around 5:55 PM Eastern time, then it disappeared. Got a photo but I don't see how to post it here.

It is smaller and more elongated than my first two sightings--like it is headed away from us now...?

Lower to the horizon than ever before here too. I'm at a pretty high latitude (46th parallel), so this may tell us something about its varying visibility at various points around the globe.

Wow lots of shilling and dis information videos and distractions and yet no one has taken a picture of sunset at the very end with a clear horizon to the west.

Please could someone explain something to me - if this thing is being seen in various countries around the globe as some seem to claim, then why is it not a single amateur astronomer out there posted VALID HIGH QUALITY footage which would start a global shitstorm of epic proportions.

Because let's face it - all we have is either faked video showing sweet fuck all or a video showing an airplane and contrails at sunset. No offence but that is all I see.

Believe or not, but there is something strange around sunset in western sky. I saw it on Thursday. I was walking to a store and weather conditions allowed me to look at almost perfect unobscured western sky. I observed it for few minutes before entering the store. It looked kind of bluish flatten ... globe.

haven't been able to keep track of all these sightings...

do people happen to be seeing a FIERY stationary light in sky too??

The OP described the object as bright as Venus and V shaped. Sounds like contrails being illuminated by the setting sun to me. There are thousands of amateur astronomers around the world who scan the sky every night. If there was an unknown object in the sw sky, they would have found it long before it became visible to the naked eye, let alone something as bright as Venus. I witnessed the SAME object here in Europe, this mid-summer and last years summer. It was only visible just before sunrise in the eastern sky. I am not joking, it has a giant contrail like in the video and only looked like an airplane when it flew over my head, it was accompanied by either other chemtrailers or once a clealy visible ufo, first as a bright object, but when nearer it stopped shining and a form could be seen.

It makes sense that this object is visible in either the morning eastern sky or the evening western sky, it must be near the sun

it is not visible here at this moment so the thing is changing its position and also it is only viewable part of the year so it depends on the earth position around the sun

A Houston resident spotted and was promptly perplexed by a stationary golden light (pictured to the right) - almost like a little fire - hovering in the sky. Although "meteor" is the first thing that comes to mind... especially considering how many have been zooming over Texas lately... but meteors don't just sit there for minutes at a time. A friend also saw it from a different part in town, and said they saw helicopters circling it at one point.

Just saying... Have you all noticed the many days of noctilucent clouds since March, that became more and more frequent that even deserved an own new widget at the left side in [link to spaceweather.com] home page, and since some weeks ago they just STOPPED.
if one research the subject will find they were considered very rare, quite like sprites, however there were PLENTY of them along the 1st half of the year.

I tried to find historic data by following to the site of that widget but didn't find. It seems such activity in skies stopped close to when OP craved this thread.

SD's photo's I've dealt with already though I should add zoomed out your videos look very similar. I've no need to dodge anything you've presented because careful examination by anyone genuinely interested will reveal the truth.

While the red tainting via Youtube could be a salient issue it gets negated by the variation in size, shape, and movement your captures present. Plain and simple they are not the same. Of course you disagree, that's the assignment. Right?

I calls em as I sees um. In the case of your videos for similar reasons. Even way out of focus your contrails look like jet exhaust for all but a second or two once you were zoomed in even a little. The dead give away though is the hang time effect, or celestial type movement wasn't present. Try freezing to a still for a few extra minutes next time if you really want to try to be convincing.

Questioning my honesty, intellectual or otherwise, based on a hypothetical is a cheap shot and goes to show much more about the nature of your truthfulness rather than mine imo. Reeks of desperation as well.

It was not clear to me that "compilation" was meant for the video directly following the statement instead of all four videos. Also could have sworn you spliced in a different jet in the last few moments in the second clip but upon further review I see now I was mistaken. The extra thrust and the suddenly elongated contrail must of fooled me.

Valid observation but there are things not being taken into account.

I would guess that since the object in question appears and goes away before most amateur astronomers start their serious stargazing sessions and it is low on the horizon (not the usual direction for looking through a telescope with the much thicker atmosphere and all) it would lessen the odds of being seen at random. No?

Also it seems to require at least some elevation to begin with and a clear line of sight to the western horizon. (the shore line is probably the last place it will be spotted) All this combined would rule out most potential spotter's with out prior knowledge of where and when to look.

Who knows. If this thread is up for long enough we may get to see some decent pics or videos yet.

Well i must say i saw it today fron lexington park, md. Sun was setting venus was to my left and i looked around , i almost even missed but i saw this flashing point of different colors to my right about a 20 degree difference. I was in the parking lot of Lexinton park baptist church on shangri la rd aka willows rd. yes i saw differnt contrails but they weren't flashing differenlt light patterns. So yeah i saw it
