Quoting: AlphA Canis Majoris Thank you AlphA Canis Majoris Kind of a long vid. Near the end is when he gives aprox. direction and claims once again it's not on the sky app but this time offers no proof as he had done on previous videos. Woah That'll teach me to ask for 2 cents worth of opinion... Quoting: Raymantheheretic That video is clearly atmospheric turbulence. I get that all the time when I view the sky. You will not get that twinkle action through a telescope, at least not as much. Quoting: #Geomagnetic_Storm# ^This. Just about any and all stars can/do twinkle...flash colors. When I see them doing that, I know it will be bad night to use my telescope. We call this bad 'seeing'. If it's really bad, the stars will appear to boil (viewed in a telescope), and the views of the Moon and planets will lack detail. When the stars just barely twinkle or don't twinkle at all, that is a good indication of steady air and will probably be a good night for astronomical viewing. There is even a web site for astronomers that forecasts the viewing conditions: [ link to cleardarksky.com] Quoting: BoxerLvr Yeah, I totally get that. Thanks. It was the size and position of the object In5d recorded that got me curious. Being out of focus answers for the apparently large size as well as the fluctuation going on easily enough and no actual compass headings or time given accounts for similar sightings (of the bright colored disco ball, mostly red ha ha) in seemingly separate locations according to the report of the AC and In5d. Not much was going on here so thought I'd ask as long as Geo was thread sitting at the time.
