We the People - A Storm is Brewing
Due to events taking place in our country I am frustrated as are many other people. Below you will find my thoughts on the situation. You may not agree with everything I have to say. That is ok; we do not have to agree on every issue. I am not attempting to have you agree with everything I say. My intention here is introspection and civil discourse.

The preamble of our constitution starts with We the People, not We the Democrats or We the Republicans. Instead of saying Republicans are stupid and need to be stopped or Democrats are ignorant and too emotional, all of us need to make an attempt to understand our differences and work on compromise. Stop the blame game. Neither side is faultless; all involved are complicit in the continuation of the downward spiral we are on as a country. All political parties and news media outlets are master manipulators that say what you want to hear, not what truly is and all of them have contributed to the sad state of affairs we find ourselves in. Our emotions are being toyed with and used against us and we are being divided as much or more now than any other time in our country’s history. These politicians, with help from the news media, want you to detest or hate someone that holds a different opinion than yourself. In this way it takes our focus off of an out of control central government that does not care about We the People. They do not care if the problems are fixed, if they did their egos would be put aside and real solutions would be created.

Our country was founded on some basic principles that all humans have unalienable rights and that we are all equal. That does not mean we all think, act and live the same way. Solutions to problems in one part of the country may not work or make any sense in another part of the country. The attempts by the political parties and their affiliates forcing their ideologies, without compromise, down the throats of people that do not agree are atrocious. We are a country full of diverse cultures and ideals that is spread over a vast geographic area. Trying to make 300+ million people over a 3 million square mile area all accept the same thoughts, concepts, and ideals, while pretending there are no differences between regions, cultures, and States is asinine. That utopia will never exist, cultural and geographical differences will not allow it. Some issues must be left for the individual regions or States to decide. Those individual regions or States know their area and culture best and what issues they need to deal with. The writers of our Constitution understood that otherwise they would not have written the tenth amendment.

It sickens me to see this great nation get torn apart over differences of opinion and ideals. Nobody is 100% correct about anything and we all have our faults. We all have ideas and opinions, some you will agree with and some you will not. These differences of opinion are what lead to great ideas, innovation, and solutions, when we work together and are willing to compromise. However, there are certain issues that we will never reach a compromise on due to the fact that it undermines deep seated cultural values and forces someone to change their way of life. No person or entity has the right to force their ideas or opinions on anyone else’s life, liberty or pursuit of happiness when it does not directly infringe on their life, no matter how much you may disagree with that person’s life choices. Your only option is to offer your advice and agree to disagree. In addition, we all need to understand there are certain issues that no amount of legislation will change. These are the issues that can only be fixed by proper education and must be left to personal choice, with no government oversight.

If We the People cannot figure out how to do this we will degrade from a civil society into chaos and ultimately civil war.

Perhaps the sentiments contained in the following pages, are not YET sufficiently fashionable to procure them general favour; a long habit of not thinking a thing WRONG, gives it a superficial appearance of being RIGHT, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. The sad truth, is that the average person you pass on the street is flat clueless of the nefarious goings-on of their government.

Most don't even know what comprises the BoR, yet believe it is the government that grants their "rights" - and this is a product of design.

Why would one proclaim a trampling of their "rights" if they were clueless that the purpose of the US Constitution is to lay out the Structure, Guidance, Direction, and Restriction of Government, much-less of from where their "rights" are granted.

Yes, that is the sad truth. The average person is ignorant to most if not all of what is going on. It's not completely their fault. The education system in this country is a joke and has only contributed to the ignorance. Plus, they've been distracted with TV, Social Media and Professional Sports, to name a few. When a person attempts to inform the ignorant, many times they are ignored due to apathy, normalcy bias or simple lack of understanding.

Critical thinking and common sense has essentially disappeared from modern society. Many of the ignorant will not realize what is happening until it hits them personally or very close to home. I hoped with the latest escapades of our government that more people would wake up and see what is truly happening, but all I've seen is further division. It's a sad state of affairs to say the least and our options for recourse are dwindling by the day if not the hour.

Until those who govern "we the people" understand that the Union can only be preserved on the basis of concessions and negotiations on the part of all of its parties, nothing can or will ever be resolved. The goal has to be to focus on providing for what is best to the whole while still affording consideration to members of the few. It is best to seek a win/win situation rather than I win, you lose.

Well said. At this point I don't think those that govern are willing to budge one little bit, apparently they consider negotiation as a sign of weakness and are more concerned about losing support from their parties than actually representing all of their constituents, specifically those that didn't vote for them.

Don't get me wrong here. There are times when you must take a stand and hold your ground, however if you are never willing to look at something from a different perspective or entertain a different way of doing things you will go nowhere. Life is full of compromise and there is nothing that can only be accomplished in one way. Stand for what you believe in but don't completely shut out the option of changing your mind when new information or a different perspective is offered. Nothing in life is absolute except death.

We should have listened to those back then who wanted to close our borders down. We should have listened to those who warned about closing down our steel industry and our oil industry. THEY WERE ALL RIGHT! Too late now. Our beloved country has been invaded by outsiders, by people whose only goal is to bring it down. I am heartbroken that my country has been brought to its knees by traitors within it.

The biggest political problem right now is that people love their party more than their country. Noone will give in and reach compromise and do what is really in the best interest of the USA.

I agree, many people I meet day to day are very self absorbed and truly do not understand what, "in the best interest of the greater good" really means.

The more concerning part is that many think we can legislate away every problem we are faced with, and when someone disagrees with them, they're not willing to even give consideration that there may be an alternative to passing a law or regulation.

There are some issues that have been around since humans started forming societies and they will never go away no matter how many laws or regulations you try and throw at the problem. The issue may be lessened through proper education or it may just be one of things that cannot be controlled and the only thing you can do is accept that it happens and deal with it when it does. Restricting everyone, because something could happen only leads to bigger issues, not to mention anger and dissent.

You're not kidding! They don't appear to be so crazy now. I may not completely agree with their methods and tactics but what they were saying is making more sense every day. It is very sad that they saw the writing on the wall that far back but we are only now starting to realize this.

Events are getting worse by the day. Federal employees have allegedly been given directive to "make life difficult." Do these employees not realize what they're doing? Are they so afraid of losing their jobs that they will contribute to the downfall of our country? Why don't any of them stand up and say I refuse to treat the citizens of our country in this fashion?

It appears more and more everyday that the Feds have no plans whatsoever to stop this impasse and are pushing for the absolute worst to happen. It's very alarming when foreigners think they are under arrest when visiting national parks! We are becoming more polarized by the second. My only hope is that people will start waking up to what is really going on, which is nothing less than the classic tactic of divide and conquer. If something drastic doesn't happen soon I'm afraid the tinder box we are sitting on will go up in flames.

These are my original thoughts and though you may not agree with everything I say, I do hope it will get you to think and perhaps lead to civilized discussion. I am not claiming to have all the answers, as I certainly do not, but there are some serious issues in our country and the world right now and we need to change course drastically to avoid ending up where we are headed. What we see occurring, in this time, has all happened before. We are simply repeating the same cycle that has gone on for millennia. If we do not do something different we will end up where we started.

Government should not be involved in every little aspect of our lives. They should not be regulating, mandating, banning or advocating, any action we want to make if that action harms no one but the person that performs it, if it harms them at all.

Government should not be involved in marriage. That is a religious doctrine. Yet we sit here and argue amongst ourselves who has the right to marry whom and what rights you as an individual or pair has when you are married.

Government should not be involved in what you choose to do with your body. Your body is your responsibility. Yet we argue over what you can put into your body or take out of your body. If you choose to poison your body or have a medical procedure performed it matters not to anyone but yourself. Simply because you do not agree with another person’s choice does not give you or the government the right to make the choices for anyone without their consent.

Government should not be involved in what you spend your money on, unless it is absolutely necessary for defense of our nation or true and actual needs of a peaceable society such as infrastructure, law enforcement and public works. It is your money; do with it as you please. Yet we are forced to pay for services, projects and public assistance that are only a perceived need and unwanted by many. On the other side of that, banning the purchase of something is not the responsibility of government or under the purview of anyone but yourself when it does no actual harm to any other person.

Government should not be involved in who you choose to business with or employ. It is your business and it is your choice to succeed or fail in your business choices. If you choose to withhold services or employment from certain individuals that is your prerogative. If you choose to treat your employees or customers badly, that is your choice and they have a choice not to do business with or work for you. Your reputation will precede you and by that alone you will succeed or fail.

Government should not be involved in education. It is your choice to educate yourself and your progeny as you so desire. Whether that be at home or institutionalized is not a responsibility of government. If you choose to remain ignorant on any particular subject that is your choice.

Government should not be involved in many other aspects of our lives and I could fill an entire book on all of those things, but I think you get the idea. Why argue about the choices other people make when it does no harm to anybody but themselves? The perceived harm or needs that we are distracted by daily take our focus off the main issue which is that the government should not be involved in these issues in the first place. These issues are used to manipulate us into thinking government mandates, laws and regulations are absolutely needed or there will be chaos in the streets and to keep us fighting amongst each other, which keeps us distracted from the slow demise of personal liberty and freedom.
