Scientists say ASTEROID hurtles towards earth. 2/3 mile wide!
Scientists were today warning of a possible asteroid collision with the Earth.
An asteroid around two-thirds of a mile wide (1.2km) could hit the earth on March 21, 2014 and has been classified as "an event meriting careful monitoring" by astronomers. Asteroids are kept at a safe distance from Earth in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
But the gravitational influence of giant planets such as Jupiter can nudge asteroids out of these safe orbits and send them plunging into the Earth's neighbourhood.

well that article seems to be a fabrication

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

I also notice no year or date on that article either

The fact that the article claims its a newly discovered asteroid when in fact the name gives away that it was discovered in 2003 means either the article is ancient or the article is a lie.

The figured out it was not going to hit earth 10 years ago shortly after the discovery.

What absolute bullshit. This smells like desperation.

An asteroid around two-thirds of a mile wide (1.2km) could hit the earth on March 21, 2014 and has been classified as "an event (an event???) meriting careful monitoring" by astronomers.

But they say the probability of the asteroid hitting Earth is just 1 in 909,000

909,000? HUH? What kind of bullshit statistic generates a random number like that? Not 910,000 or 1,000,000??

Besides, a 1.2Km object is big enough to be easily visible and should have a well known & documented orbit already.

I'm not buying any of their shit when it comes to meteors/asteroids right now...

I think it's a ploy at attention diversion.

Not to mention, in this day and age, an asteroid/meteor strike could easily be simulated.

Hell, I've even got a thread about it here:

This shit isn't about asteroids at all, it's about the numbers.

2/3 of a mile? That's an odd figure.
909,000?

Is this a publicly announced threat?

It was a publically announced discovery in 2003 not 2013, also it was declared a non-threat that same year, this article has to be from 2003, i could not find a year for it, but i was able to quickly look the asteroid up, its a non-threat.

Just google the asteroid's name you'll find all the data you need then you can go get a pizza like muah.
