Hot Springs National Park?
Anyone here that lives in or near Hot Springs, Arkansas?

I've been wondering if any of Hot Springs is closed, since it's a national park.

Re: Hot Springs National Park?
I live about 50 miles away. I haven't heard anything about it. The city certainly isn't shut down, but I imagine several sites are.

We have a corps of engineers park at a lock and dam a few miles from here that is closed. Otherwise I'm not aware of too much going on around here.

I wondered . . . frankly, I've never been able to tell what's "National Park" and what's not. Do they have parts blocked off?

On my roomates' last day on the job, they had to kick out all of the campers. It is truly a sad day when americans have to kick americans off american property.

Oh man. That seems so WEIRD. I guess I should have known. I just thought that it might be hard to tell what was NP and what wasn't--I've never been able to separate HPNP from the city itself.

It is difficult to distinguish, but basically anything that was Federally or partially federal funded, is closed. North mountain (mountain tower), west mountain, and a few of the bath houses are closed, along with Ouachita (which has more shoreline, than California has coastline).

Don't hurt your pinky finger on your keyboard.

Go down there and demand they turn the fountain
back on. A lot of people in that area use it for their
drinking water.
There is NO need for that hot springs water not to
be available to the public.

The city runs the various water outlets (though I would not drink out of them), they are fully functional.

I did do my little part of civil disobedience, and jumped the barriers on north mountain, to get my hike on, but I wanted to take the motorcycle up west mountain to no avail.

Re: Hot Springs National Park?
When you drive down Central Ave the land on the East side of the road is all national park and has all of the bath houses, which are now all closed. The land on the west side belongs to the city. Now that being said the bath houses are closed but the side walks which technically belong to the National Parks are not closed. It's just not going to happen. Hot Springs is unique in that the National Park is incorporated into the city. I will also add that Lookout Mountain is gated off. This is also on the East side of Central Ave.

They arrested some lady last week for jumping the barriers.

They also arrested some dude for threatening to blow up the tower because of the shutdown.

Well, no. The springs are natural. They do control the water flow from the springs into the bath houses, which are now closed.
