I do not practice Voodoo. I do a lot of things that come to me naturally. Led by a spirit that has compassion but believes in justice. I study a lot of different systems and history to make connections to make sense of how I see God.


You know the first thing I think of when I see X. The slaves who did not even know how to write their own name, because their masters would not allow them to learn how to read. Not even to be able to read the Bible. So when they were asked to sign their name on a document they signed it with an X.

You know who one of my greatest female heroes is? A woman I try to emulate? Stand up against injustice as she did? Try to show systems that were wrong and played a part in ending them? A woman who lived at the same time and neighborhood as Marie Laveau. Her cousin in fact. A product of the "concubine system" known as placage. A woman that is in line to be a Saint. Henriette Delille. I have had amazing spirit led experiences since I discovered this woman. Even met some of her "sisters" in the most divine way on the sidewalk one day. Her Holy Order exists to this day. Learned her story and what she did. How she went against her "handlers" and taught the slave children to read the bible so they could know the word of God. Set up hospitals and schools. Taking care of those righteous people treated like property. Yet I was told by the "christian" warriors standing in front of one of the churches she ministered in, whom I told were blasphemers, said SHE was of the devil.

If I were unmarried and black I would consider joining their order. Their members are aging. Not many young black women choosing to give up themselves to serve others. Which is what Yeshuas way really was. Serving others. Not taking from them because he thought he was better than them. In fact not many people at all are willing to serve others anymore. It is all about serving themselves.

Marie Laveau? She signed her name with an X. She may not have had the benefit of being able to read. She was a devout Catholic. Went to mass every morning. Was close with Pere Antoine. A man sent to establish the Spanish Inquisition in Lousiana. Was sent back to Spain because he was too easy on the slaves. The heathens. The natives. He somehow was able to not be executed and returned to LA to continue helping the community. Maybe he just understood they had their gods he had his. That there was a way they could exist together in the same place like a delicious pot of gumbo. Marie Laveau later in life renounced Voodoo all together and spent her remaining years deep in her love of God.

X to me is a symbol of Slavery and Control. I did look at that link and what struck me more than any word on it was the image on it of a t-shirt that said TAKE LIFE. I believe in DEFENDING LIFE.

I am here to help people break their chains. Not tighten the noose.

I have spent much time praying and asking for reflection on this woman and how she could help me in the very places she stood and knelt before God asking for strength to do the same. Had the light shine down on me while doing so. Each time what I perceive as God giving me guidance and strength to carry on and seek out what the truth is for ME in hopes of finding something in it to help others.

That is happening. Part of why I was extra gritty while posting during day was because I had to do part of my spiritual job here which is to help others deal with grief. A friend came to me and asked if I would help a relative pass. They were so distraught. I was able to take their belief system and help them to see what would happen to that loved one. During this conversation he realized something I had said and something that had happened the night before. Made a connection. Saw the synchronicity. Looked me in the eyes and said "I just realized what God is and how it works." I saw before my very eyes a man understand what God really is. I saw a man transformed before my very eyes because of something I did. I showed great compassion and love for him and his relative I would never meet. I know without a doubt that she passed peacefully. I know this because she is not the first I have helped to pass. To let go. Over 20 years ago I helped my grandfather let go after 6 weeks of basically starving to death on IV. I could not stand his suffering anymore. So what did I do? My sister and I went to the chapel and got a hymnal. Sang "Nearer my God to Thee." As we did his eyes lit up. He looked to the sky. He smiled he could see the angels singing to him, even though he had by then been physically blinded. We saw in his eyes. He reached up and then went to sleep. Within 30 minutes he left us. Angels of Music.

Something funny I learned this year? I have been told my whole life I had the voice of an angel. Gematria is popular on this forum. You brought it up. This is my legal birth name results.

The Song of Solomon is a beautiful poem about just that.

We used it for our weddings vows. Read it to each other as a if it were a play. It was just beautiful. God was everywhere around us, out in nature. A moth even landed on my wrist and his shoulder and kept kissing our cheeks as we were pledging our love and commitment to each other.

Now tell me again God is only in one part of one book out of millions of poems written about what people think god is starting with cave drawings and symbols to modern science and tech concepts.

I feel dense. I don't understand the wedding and the bride. Does it represent Nuns who wed Jesus? That is the only sense I can make out of it.

I did my name at gematria and it came to 2932. The top choice in the Jewish Gematria was "Im A Fourteen Year Old Kid Daniel Jackson Born May Thirteen".

I am not sure that gematria is a reliable calculator. I am a woman over the age of 40. Not born in May. I found it amusing, that's why I shared it. :)

That is a beautiful post Katie......Thanks for sharing it all. Your last paragraph reminded me of an analogy I just read this morning.......

Instead of worshiping a man who taught a way of living. Start being like him. If all you do is recite his words then you are only an actor playing a part. If you believe in those words. Live them. Show him gratitude for showing you the way. In these days of fast food and instant gratification needed all the time by an impatient entitled society you have to be shown not told.
