So... watch the global economy go in the toilet and the value of gold go to $1000 or more an ounce. The US really has sold off most of its gold; has based its economy on fiat currency that has no intrinsic value.

Most of the discussion of gold in Revelation concerns Babylon (a nation) and the mystery religion at the end of the Age.

Jeremiah 50:

The Economic Sum Of It All:

The US economy is tapped out. The last remaining area where new loans could be lent into existence was in fact the US housing market. This market is tapped out even if some people are still borrowing to buy a house. The equity Americans have in their houses is catastrophically low because they have borrowed and spent the recent climb in house values as fast or faster than the valuations climbed.

The US federal government is in HUGE deficit; most of the States and municipalities are in deficit. An enormous amount of new credit is still being infused into a US economy, which is going nowhere fast. What the still ongoing new credit is doing is expanding the US trade and current account deficits even faster than they were expanding before, in the process piling US external debts owed even higher. The US has nowhere to go in economic terms. It is living daily at the mercy of its international lenders. As the Fed is increasing interest rates, rolling up from behind inside the US economy are all the loans and all the debts carried. As US interest climb in the months ahead, some of these loans will turn bad and the lenders will get hit with losses. Further ahead lies a major US lender, which goes broke out of the blue.
