I wonder how long these healthcare sharing co-ops will be legal? We all know it's only a matter of time before any deviation from Omarxistcare will be shut down.
 Quoting: Keep2theCode

They will be harder to shut down if they have more people involved...

I like that. Too Big To Fail healthcare sharing ministries.

Couldn't we just create a GLP healthcare sharing ministry church online? Anyone could just create a website and let people join. Maybe this should be my next project.

It is wrong to "force" people to buy insurance they do not want or can't even afford.

YES IT IS! But Obama is doing it anyways. Kind of makes you feel violated in a sense. Never thought i would ever see something like this. Seriously scares the crap out of me that passed this law. question

It's not a law. It's an act. Like in a play. Do you wish to participate in the act? Do you agree to the terms of the contract?

I am not getting insured. I am not going to file taxes either. I am going to put my resources into whole foods and supplements. Why am I going to compromise who I am for government mandated insurance or Christian compelled insurance?

Any organization that repudiates the use of the cannabis plant is illegitimate in I and I. Especially Christians, when Jesus was annointed in holy cannabis oil.

There's a lot of risk and BS involved, but I suppose it could just come down to a matter of principal.
 Quoting: Melrox

This is what concerns me. The cost is good, but this are medical SHARING programs, which means all members SHARE in the cost of one another's expenses according to what I was reading. I have to look into this further. But good info. I have a feeling the churches are going to take from tithes or something. But then, the ACA is something of a "redistribution" plan, costing more to the folks who make a decent living in order to pay for those who can't afford health care.

Still, something that may prove to be a viable and less expensive option to ACA. F*cking pain the arse that IT IS. At least for anyone who is middle class and up.

I am poor as dirt and would probably qualify for free healthcare, but I will not be coerced into doing anything. Under any circumstances.

Good Luck to you! And I mean that sincerely!!!!!

What cracks me up is the name of this deal ... the "Affordable CARE Act". We're not paying for healtcare, we're paying for INSURANCE. Same as car insurance. Still gotta pay for the maintenance, deductibles, taxes, registration, and all the fun that comes along with owning a car. Now we have to pay because we're walking around in a meat suit. Can't take a chance on us getting sick. But this insurance is going to cost us BIG and doesn't cover all of the CARE we are going to need.

What irks me is this: we already have low and no cost clinics. (Free clinics) We also have doctors that see patients for CASH. I used to be a cash paying patient. 35.00 a visit, no prescriptions - doc gave me samples from his cabinet. I've got a friend who will see his patients for 45/visit. There are hospitals like St. Jude's that will see and treat people with severe illnesses for free. So why are we forcing insurance down people's throats when we're already scraping, living paycheck to paycheck to survive? And if we DON'T take it, they're going to fine us? My family will have to pay 2200/yr. BULLSH*T! And even though they can't DENY you, the plan states that you can be charged 50% more in premiums if you smoke or DO have a pre-existing condition that makes you high risk. This "law" is a joke. Just a legal way to rob us.

The left talks about the right being fear mongers, but the left keeps saying the poor deserve good care - they DO get it. They just have to go sign up for it! This is just the Government's way of getting us to pay MORE ... it's impossible to support a family anymore. The more you make, the more they take.

You still have to fill out a FORM for the IRS to approve...

Not like they're ever biased or anything!

A good battle for making it a checkbox on the 1040 is needed.

Being a conspiracy believer should be a sub religion hehe.

Still No Takers for MuslimsForChrist.org??

WOW...

The sharing ministries are not insurance: there's no guarantee that a given bill will be covered. Instead, it's like a co-op, where members decide what procedures to cover, and then all pitch in to cover the cost as group.

I saw this last week and took a look into it. If I lose my insurance, this is what I'm getting.

Oh, and here's an article about the exemption:

Re: A Christian Exemption To Obamacare Available! Healthcare Sharing Ministries
My wife is part of the CHMinistries.com. We're on the silver plan. Its $85 a month for her and we're responsible for $500 for EACH EVENT, not a yearly deductible type.

At first, that may see like a lot but the deal is this: when you join one of these things you have to be a PRACTICING Christian, well, that is if you have any self respect. She (we) are. As such, when she joined, she became a "self payer". Thats a magic word for "deep discounts".

The previous Anthem insurance we had was costing $480 a month with a $2000 year deductible and we paid out the wazoo for EVERYTHING.

For instance, she gets a Pap Smear every year because she had pre-cancerous indicators after our first child. Every year its like $400. This year, for the first time, it was less than $70. Heck, we didn't even bother turning it in. why?

The fact is, whats happening is that insurance is so stinking difficult to process that the medical business is simply charging you extra for all the extra work and dealing with these greedy bums. This was becoming apperant to many people and if they made a decent living and they were healthy, they were just going full bore "self payer" status and raking in the savings. The healthcare insurance industry was worried that this would be discovered en-masse and their crookedness would be exposed. Well, I guess they made enough money to lobby the fascist regime to get that fixed with the Affordable Care Act.

The next thing will be people going into these sharing networks. Watch them *SUDDENLY* become un-qualified for you to avoid the ACA penalty. (I don't give a darn what the supreme, unelected judges say, its a penalty. The laws says its a penalty and they referred to it as a penalty. For the SCOTUS to suddenly refer to it as a TAX is beyond MORANITY!)

So, you just watch when people start flocking to these sharing networks, watch how they get left out in the cold. I predict it will happen very soon because the UCA (formerly the ACA) *MUST* *HAVE* a huge enrollment to work. They will get this enrollment by freezing out alternative cost effective plans.

You will not be able to avoid it before long. They can't have alternative. They must "Box You In" to their plans.

This is not about health care. This is about control and taking your wealth. The economy will probably have crashed by then and the whole thing will be scrapped (I hope) but with the way things are going, we are headed down a very hard, very rough road.

Question EVERYthing.
 Quoting: Ms. Superduper

Including what is the purpose of the exemptions?

Is it truly to accommodate those who are "conscientious objectors" or is it a way to easily identify those who won't comply?

Remember, if you have an exemption, you go in a database as part of that group.

Believe it or not, I don't qualify either. How ironic.
 Quoting: Lisa*Lisa

why don't you qualify?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40845803

1. I don't go to any church
2. I"m a smoker
3. I'll have a glass of wine whenever I feel like it

Well, as long as you accept Jesus you will qualify for heaven, and that's the only thing that matters hf

Well according to Obama and all his followers, "it's the law of the land". I just have a bad feeling they are going to make it so you just can't get around it. Most likely ending up with not being able to get any type of medical care if you are not on this plan. So even if you get around evading the government healthcare, taxes, fines etc., in the end they will still try to get you. I hope i'm wrong and all this mess gets thrown out but if not, i wish you the best of luck and hope that more people like you put their foot down and say "NO THANKYOU!". hf

I feel completely lost, hopeless and confused on this sharing stuff.

Looks like I'll have to just pony up the $695 FOR THIS year...
