Major news today:

After 1 year, 11 months of daily physical therapy, on top of regular actual PT sessions, I made the leap:

I left my cane in my car at work today and walked everywhere without it.

Oh my GOD...never thought for the better part of the past 2 years that I'd ever be here again.

Don't say awesome/congrats until you read my latest update!

Today, after 1 yr 11 mos of daily PT, on top of regular PT appointments, I finally:

Walked up to my PT appointment entirely, 100% without my cane or other assistance.

Not quite there yet. And my PT says that I probably don't have that much further to go to reach 100% normal. There is still weakness but it isn't anything I can't handle now.

Now it's 7/28/2018 - exactly 31 days since my cane last touched the ground.

BOOM.

If anyone even remotely likes Janis Joplin, there is a good documentary about her on PBS tonight. At least, I assume it's airing nationally across the board (8ET/7CT). Here, it's airing on one of the PBS sub-stations. I always liked several of her songs, but I gained a bigger appreciation for her after seeing this doc.

Didn't know this about you! You'd love this doc then. I'm sure you can probably find it online. Or, see if PBS will be re-airing it in your area so you can record. It's a good one. I have a few of her albums on vinyl. She had such a great voice. She was a sweet soul. I learned some music from this doc I wasn't aware of before, which is one reason I ended up loving it so much.

ETA: Good god, that woman has a powerful voice! It takes balls to cover Janis. Kudos to her - and in her 40s!

Family of the missing kids and great grandmother say the Sheriff’s Department confirmed they all died in the #CarrFire

 Quoting: Luisport

wo firefighters died on Thursday, 17 people are missing and tens of thousands have fled their homes.

The fires in Shasta county are being sucked up by strong winds to form "fire tornados" that are uprooting trees and overturning cars, fire officials say.

Firefighters are battling the blaze, which is only 5% contained so far.
