Where my house is located isn't in a 'flood zone' therefore flood insurance isn't required (and so I didn't get it). Flood damage from rain isn't covered under my home owner's insurance BUT there's a loophole! And this wasn't my idea to screw over the system, my insurance agent actually told me lol. She said that if the rain came into the house from outside of the house there is zero coverage for that, but if the rain came into the house due to a pump in the basement being overwhelmed with water there is limited coverage for that. So she basically told me to tell her that's how the rain got inside and flooded the basement. She then told me that because of the number of calls they're receiving today for flooding that they were told no pics or videos are required, just to get a brief description of the damages and they can issue up to a $2,000.00 check to each person with damages. I told her what got damaged down there and told her that I do have pics and a video if she wanted me to send them and she said nope, she had gotten everything she needed from me and would issue the $2,000.00 check today! I was only on the phone with her for maybe 4 minutes total. Huge relief! I mean, it won't cover the cost of everything, but just about. That's only because Nef can do the work and we don't have to hire someone and pay labor costs. It's gonna take a long time to fix everything, but this insurance money is a HUGE help! A prayer was answered today. We did not have any extra money to deal with this. : ) Quoting: Simple27 God loves you,,,,and so do we... AKA Auntie Arnie |

Quoting: Master of Nothing But if it's magma movement, why is the quake swarm in the far north? According to this map below, there are no volcanoes in the northern half of the state. There are plenty to the south, but I can't imagine movement below that far south would cause a swarm to the north. [ link to avo.alaska.edu (secure)] The whole thing is strange, simply because of the location. No volcanoes or fault lines (that I am aware of) in the north slope area. |
