Developing Story: Seismic swarm in progress between southern Cascadia and northern San Andreas FaultsFour Magnitude-3.4 and larger quakes have struck in two hours, all south of Cape Mendocino, and west of the town of Petrolia, California. Based on the earthquake locations and their focal mechanisms (both by the USGS), the swarm appears to be occurring on a right-lateral reverse fault that connects the northernmost San Andreas-Mendocino Fracture Zone with the shallow portion of the Cascadia Megathrust [ link to temblor.net] ETA: this article was posted on the 3rd, there have been additional smaller quakes since then. Quoting: KickinIt Of all people, Ryan just shared this link with me... Is It Beginning? 10 Significant Earthquakes Rock The California Coastline As Mount St. Helens Rumbles Back To LifeScientists tell us that someday the “Big One” will strike California and large portions of the coastline will plunge into the ocean “almost instantly”. Could it be possible that we are a lot closer to that day than many had anticipated? Over the past several days, there has been a lot of shaking along the North American portion of the Ring of Fire. In particular, during a 24 hour period over the weekend one area of the California coastline was hit by 10 earthquakes of at least magnitude 3.0, and this created such a stir that it made the front page of the Drudge Report. The following comes from a local California newspaper… [ link to endoftheamericandream.com] Quoting: Simple27 It is scary. Those of us EQ-tards realize how overdue CA is, and we also recognize the activity there in recent weeks shouldn't be ignored. I, myself, continue to watch CA carefully. I sure hope this part of the article was being a bit overly dramatic, though: The Big One may be overdue to hit California, but scientists near LA have found a new risk for the area during a major earthquake. They claim that if a major tremor hits the area, it could plunge large parts of California into the sea almost instantly.,The discovery was made after studying the Newport-Inglewood fault, which has long been believed to be one of Southern California’s danger zones.
Cal State Fullerton professor Matt Kirby, who worked with the Leeper on the study, said the sinking would occur quickly and likely result in part of California being covered by the sea. “It’s something that would happen relatively instantaneously,” Prof Kirby said. “Probably today if it happened, you would see seawater rushing in.”
In other words, by the time you have figured out what is happening it will be too late. Quoting: KickinIt For years and years the experts have poo-pooed the theory that CA could fall off into the ocean, said it wasn't possible. To read they were WRONG once AGAIN, is just so pleasant!!!! |

The last one, was on Dec 21, 2012 (can you believe it's be that long??) the day before doomsday - lol- and it failed miserably. This time they will be breaking it closer to the ankle, where the foot indents above the old scar, cutting and realigning several tendons and moving the muscle in the big toe so it won't try to go under the 2nd toe. She will be in a cast for two months, non-weight bearing, and then for 2-4 months after that in a walking cast, then a boot. Below is how wonderful the last surgery worked, NOT. Not right that she will have had two bunion surgeries and she is only 21. Crazy!! Waiting on approval Last Edited by WhiteAngel on 02/06/2019 06:43 PM |

Hard to believe it was 64 degrees two days ago. Snowing, heavy fog (which put a thick layer of frost over everything) and only 10 degrees right now with a windchill of -1, so far. Expecting -2 and windchill -30 overnight. Get ready for it peeps to the east of Colorado!! |

But I worry about it because my mom had them bad enough she had that surgery. She didn't have the problems your daughter did, but I know it's a slow recovery. Did your daughter have a particularly bad or unusual case? Or did the docs just do a shoddy job the first time? Poor kid, I feel bad for her, that will be a very long recovery this time. And it's kinda fascinating how one thing, such as this foot problem, causing all those alignment issues. And from my own experience, those alignment issues over time cause her muscles, etc. to compensate for the wackiness, which makes it that much harder to correct the alignment, because things want to go back to the way they are now used to being, not the old, proper way. It can be done, but it takes time. So frustrating when this sounds like it could've been avoided with the initial surgery. |
