Not much definite on the work front yet. The net is tightening though. Can't say too much, other than that it is extremely difficult.

But we keep on fighting! I do see people losing faith, which is very logical, but whatever happens, we will always be alright. One way or another.

I also have to mention that age is quite an issue in our company. The average age must be around 50 or so and we have close to 300 people at work.

And you know how it goes, the older you get, the more nostalgic you get as well, bragging about olden days being sooooo much better.

Yesterday I asked a colleague, who is close to retirement: "What do you prefer more, Christmas or sex?"
He replied: "Christmas of course!"
I said: "Christmas? Of course? Why Christmas??"
He said: "Well, that's more often.."

Ok, ok, I am leaving already! Enjoy your Tuesday everyone! Love to all. And don't forget to smile. hf

A Single Earthquake Can Move Millions of Tons of Carbon into Earth's Deepest Trenches

n a new study published Feb. 7 in the journal Scientific Reports, Kioka and his colleagues visited the Japan Trench — a subduction zone (where one tectonic plate dives beneath another) in the Pacific ocean that plunges more than 26,000 feet (8,000 m) at its deepest point — to determine how much organic matter had been dumped there by the history-making quake. The answer: A lot. The team found that roughly one teragram — or 1 million tons — of carbon had been dumped into the trench following the Tohoku earthquake and subsequent aftershocks.

During the earthquake, the Pacific Plate slipped under the plate beneath northern Honshu, along the Japan Trench. In some parts where the fault slipped, the land moved by 100 feet.

Some Yellowstone geysers are getting more active—but why?
Bursts of activity in parts of the park highlight the erratic nature of these watery phenomena.

I have to say, the "old days" were better in many ways.

It's nice to hear there is a company out there with an average employee age of 50-ish! Good for your employer, that's not something you come across much. Which is crazy, 50 isn't that old, and in today's world everyone's working in their 50s. But I've seen a few threads on this site from people in their early 50s who could not find a job. Ageism is real.
