in 1969, October, I was on the maiden voyage of the Queen Elizabeth II, from the U.K., to New York. Hit super rough seas, 50-ft waves, the furniture was all over the place, and I was in an elevator that tipped sideways so we were laying down in it, sideways. Up in front there was a bar, and when the ship went headlong into a wave, we submerged and STAYED submerged for more than 5 minutes.
I was early pregnant with daughter, and we had a puking cat with us that threw up on some lady's shoe.
We were more than 24hours late coming in,,,it was in the papers. Every now and then, these Scottish engineers who were on the maiden run, kept coming on the PA system and saying, "ladies and gentlemen, we want to assure that the stabilizers are functioning well" They were really into the stabilizer thing,,,
dining room...all food dumped to the side of the room.
Needless to say I have not been on a ship ever since.
And i had wanted to take the ship home because i was afraid of airplanes......

Yikes Arnie! sounds like a shitty experience.

I went on a cruise once with my dad step mom and her daughter. We got lucky the seas were kind for us. I got 15 free alcoholic beverages per day, as part of the inclusive feature. 15 long islands a day at least lol Was fun. Id like to go on an alaskan cruise one time

yeah well this was supossed to be "cruise-like" to celebrate the maiden voyage.
..people were stumbling around and even falling over like they were drunk. and our cabin was next to the trunk storage area, so every 5 minutes or so the trunks would slide back and forth and slam into the wall right next to the bed. I didn't know whether to shit or wind my watch,,
and the cat ended up in the medical ward with sedation and hydration drip.
p.s. NEVER do ships in the north Atlantic in the autumn..afm

Definitely. I was just watching some videos of that situation and it's scary as shit. I think in another life I was on the Titanic. I've always been fascinated with the Titanic story, plus I've always been fearful of open waters. I won't set foot in the ocean and I even lived right on it at one point in my life. No way you would get me on a cruise, ever.

I'd be afraid I would end up eating a poisonous one. I was trying to identify some huge mushrooms that popped up in my yard last spring/fall, and I think I did but there are so many kinds of mushrooms and I couldn't be totally sure. One that looked a lot like them were poisonous. How do you know? I guess those who know a lot more about mushrooms are able to see subtle differences.
