This morning I noticed my vision was not so great, but it wasn't terrible. You know how you usually have poor vision when you wake up, but after rubbing your eyes everything pops back to normal? That didn't happen this morning.
In fact, it got progressively worse. As I was sitting at my computer at work today, I couldn't even read the text. WITH glasses. It was that bad. I had to squint and get close to the monitor (less than half an inch away) to read the text.
As it got closer to noon time it was progressively worse. I had double vision that I couldn't get rid of. Usually I can squint a bit with just a tiny teensy eensy bit of effort to get rid of it. Now it required a lot. And when I closed my eyes enough to get rid of it they weren't open enough to see.
In the emergency room my blood pressure was 156 / 80 when I first arrived. A couple hours later 139 / 80. So, nothing too SUPER huge to worry about there. Just nerves and stress due to this week. The doc said nothing's wrong with my brain, but I should see an ophthalmologist to get things checked out, just in case. I agreed.
Just got home from the emergency room about 5 minutes ago. Oy. My vision has significantly improved (almost back to normal) but my eyes are swelled up. Weird. I have an eye infection due to the illness I just had.
And this just HAS to happen when I'm handed a supremely awesome project to work on at work. I certainly hope they don't think I can't handle it because of this. :(
I don't think I can deal with anymore bad luck setbacks in my career.

Quoting: CuriousSeeker Sorry to hear this, CS. That's pretty scary! I'm glad it's beginning to improve now. And I'm sure your job will understand since you went to the ER. Did you happen to get a note? Even if you didn't, I highly doubt they would think you couldn't handle it knowing you were having this issue today on the job. Hopefully it keeps improving and you'll be able to see well in the morning. Definitely let us know how you're doing when you get up tomorrow for work (if you have time). Quoting: Simple27 Sorry but I got up a little late and didn't have time to post until now. Busy day, along with a cool little BBQ at work so I didn't have much time during lunch either. Anyway my vision is back to normal. The whole thing was totally weird in that I hadn't done any strenuous activity that would cause something like that and I haven't been through any different ways to work that would contain chemicals or any other weird thingamajigs that would cause it. Very strange. But I am glad to be back to normal. No more double vision, halos, or blurriness beyond what I am at normally. So this means no more double vision, halos or blurriness. YAY. No further issues today either. Really really strange how it came on all of a sudden like that. But, anyway, I have an appointment with an ophthalmalogist tomorrow to make sure this is all it is and there isn't anything else. The swelling in my eyes has gone down significantly too. Both of my eyes were extremely swollen yesterday. Very weird. Definitely glad to be back to normal! YAY. |

Filipino mother-of-two killed while talking on a phone plugged into faulty charger A Filipino mother-of-two was killed while talking on a phone that was plugged into a faulty charger. The incident has been called a “wake-up call” by authorities who warned against the use of knock-offs as they pose a serious risk of electrocution. They believe charger was a faulty knock-off which released a sudden, high-voltage, electrical burst. “The voltage seems to travel up through the faulty charger into her phone and she was wearing earplugs and also operating a laptop which was also plugged into a power point,” said Fair Trading representative from New South Wales Lynelle Collins to the Sydney Morning Herald. The electricity then went down through the earplugs into the laptop and into the power point. “Two-hundred-and-forty volts [then] traveled up into the phone, which obviously the phone isn’t designed to handle,” added Collins. Aldeguer’s body was found by her friends a day after the incident. She had sustained burns to her chest and ears and it is thought that she died instantly. [ link to rt.com] |
