Wait, Irish folks get gray hair faster?

hiding
 Quoting: Simple27

Well, not all Irish do, but many. And those that do are usually fully gray very early, like 20s, and they typically gray very nicely. They have that good gray hair that makes you want to call them a silver fox, not that mousy gray that's like a non-color. I'm sure that's what I'll end up with. Then I'll have to start dying it a nice color gray, lol
 Quoting: KickinIt

I must've gotten the French gene when it comes to hair color lol. My papa is French and he's in his 80's with mostly dark brown hair still. He has grays of course, but more dark brown than gray.

I'm pretty sure my hair has been falling out a bit too fast lately. I know it is. Big time before taking the leave from work. It's freaking me out. But that's why I decided to cut so much off. Hoping that will slow the loss down. It's not yet noticeable, but I can see the difference when I shower. Little clumps are coming out now. : (
 Quoting: Simple27

That hair loss could definitely be stress related, especially considering the timing. However, it also could be hormone related. Keep an eye on it and go to the doc if it gets bad or prolonged, just to make sure it's not something fixable.
 Quoting: KickinIt

Usually is hormone related. Happens to men too, when testosterone level is too low!

For hair thinning I take some collagen powder in tea, and some silica supplement.
It helps but still hard to keep away what I call "nursing home hair",,,

It's inevitable as we all age. I take some hair vitamins myself, but appreciate your input and will look into those.

Once when I was in my 20's I spent my entire paycheck in about 10 minutes on scratch tickets. Lost my whole check and felt like such shit about it that I still have a hard time buying a scratch ticket, even sporadically.

 Quoting: Simple27

good ! Kept you from even beginning to develop a habit there.

Every now and then I buy a mega-million ticket, one of those that have some obscene amount of prize, like $340 million. Then it occurs to me that there's really not much I would do with all that money--just too old and lazy lol! Really, just too old for the stress of it all.

It really did make me feel awful. I had such guilt lol. It truly prevented me from ever becoming a gambler. I'll buy some of those Power Ball tickets every so often, and even less often a scratch ticket, but that's about it.

If I had more money though...

I may need to go back to the endocrinologist. I got cleared in that department a couple of years ago, but I wasn't noticing hair loss at that time.

I do believe it's all stress-related. All of this nonsense with my body/system/etc. I just need an answer to my blood levels, which no doctor has yet been able to give. Something consistently raises my hemoglobin and hematocrit. For years now, and no one can tell me why or how to control it. Super frustrating because when they get too high, I feel like complete shit.

I had stress related hair loss once, when I lost my mom. That whole month prior to her death was so stressful. I also had gone off the pill about a month prior to that, and that can cause it (hormonal). However, I saw 3 doctors about the hair loss over time- a general practitioner, a gynecologist, and a dermatologist, and they all told me confidently it was the stress. And I tend to believe them. That was the most stress and anxiety I've felt in my life, and that was a lesson at just how impactful stress is on our bodies. And my hair never went back to 100%. It's much better than when it happened, but it just never got back the same volume. I was told that it might never go back to normal - your growth phase can be disrupted to the extent it never gets back on track.
