Wow! Loved that Mannheim Steamroller! Great music and presentation. It was wonderful. Had a big screen behind with lots going on there, great light and effects, really well done! 2 hour and 20 minutes, of a great production. 15 in the group, but there were 6 main ones, the rest they called their orchestra! So many instruments!

On a different note:

Can someone PM MsMc and tell her that I can not reply to her messages, because she has me blocked from sending her messages. It looks like she accidentally put me on ignore..

Thanks in advance! hf

Happy Friday Quakesters!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

My new daughter-in-law was rushed to the hospital early this morning and it turns out she has a large uterine tumor...like, huge.

She was rushed down to a hospital in the city where she is to have it removed.

If y'all praying types would do me a solid and send one up for her that'd be great. Her name is Madi.

Thanks

Also as traumatic as it happens I was layed off from my local county government job some 9 years ago. (9 years oh my gosh) Given 2 hours to packup and get out of the office that I had worked in for 35 years. VERY TRAUMATIC situation at the time. It took a lot of work to get the retirement organized and working properly but now it is history.
Thank you IM for pointing out the buddy list and messaging. I have overlooked this feature here on GLP and did not realize it's importance. I had included a number of people in the list but I didn't realize what all you can use it for.... still learning. :dummy:

haha, there's probably stuff I don't know about on this site too John. And some of the stuff I do know, took me a long time to notice or figure out.

That's awful about your old job, I had never heard that story. It really incites me how good, long-time employees are treated anymore. I'm really sorry you had to go through such a terrible betrayal like that. I've been treated like crap at jobs too, but I can't imagine how irate and hurt I'd be if I'd had as many years of service as you did.

Well, the upside is you are enjoying a very nice life full of travel, family, cdog walks and GLPing, so you win in the end.

Whoa, I assume it's benign? Or are they not sure? Either way very scary, but usually big ones that grow fast (I'm assuming) are benign. Hoping for a quick recovery. Poor thing, right before Xmas!

My son said that she was feeling weird for a few days before. They were playing a game together...he works nights, so they keep weird hours...and she went to use the restroom and was stricken with sudden, excruciating pain. They went to ER at 0330 this morning.

He said the same as Kickin...that the big ones are usually benign and that is the last update that we got from him. I just tried to call again and there was no answer.

My eldest, God love him, has a problem with exaggeration at times... he said the tumor was just shy of 9 inches(!!). I don't understand how that can happen, but I guess we will find out.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. I knew I could count on y'all.

9 inches is huge, but it happens. Every once in a blue moon there's some story in the news about a person discovering a huge tumor they had no clue about. I'm talking tumors that weigh POUNDS. The person just thought they gained weight.

*End of Mad Mezzo's Job Hunt Rant*
 Quoting: InterMezzo

I'm very sorry to hear this Mezzo! Hopefully you will land an awesome job soon.

My husband is still going through this - 3 months now. He is hoping after the 1st of the year things will be better. Lots of offers but only half of what he used to make AND that was under PAID per the market. It is smaller places who want him but can't pay him.

Sucks
 Quoting: WhiteAngel

Thank you Angel. hugs And I hope your hubby finds a job soon too. He will! I am confident! I recognize the pay discussion. I even am willing to accept around 60% of what I used to make. But nowadays over here that even is quite a challenge.

I shouldn't complain to much about finances though. I know our social security system at least protects us for two years with about 70% of the pay. And I know that is not the case in a lot of situations like in the USA. And I feel bad about that for those affected. hf
 Quoting: InterMezzo

He does have what we call his insurance job, UPS, and is working about 38 hours a week but even that is a 1/4 what he was making and we are blowing through savings at a mad dash. That was suppose to help use during the senior years. So far, the best offer was for 75% of his old salary for only a contract job for 6 months.

You are lucky with with your backup program there. Not here in USA. He is thinking about food stamps, not sure what it is called now. Might as well get back what we put in, instead of all the illegals grabbing it up.
