What is everyone's favorite Christmas cookie?? Yes, you can only name one!

Mine would be a sugar cookie.

It is so versatile and you can do so many things with it but changing the recipe just a little bit. Add a little cinnamon and you have a snickerdoodle. A little chocolate and you have a chocolate cookie. Some nuts and raisins and you have a ..... don't know the name of it, we always have them, just something I made up when I was a kid, lol.

You can keep this post going for a real long post, rofl

Ah, I forgot about your persimmom cookies! I'm intrigued by those.

My favorite cookies in general are alfajores. It's common the latino countries and therefore they vary a bit depending who makes em but regardless it's a sandwich cookie with dulce de leche in between. The cookie has a unique texture but is a butter cookie. To me it's a xmas cookie because it's the only time of the year I make them. They always end up being the favorite of everyone I give xmas goodies too.

Until I watched holiday baking shows, I never even heard of dulce de leche. Just now had to look it up and learned it is browned sweetened condensed milk. Okay, now I get it and understand why it is used so much. Caramel softened with a little milk over the stove is what I have always done when I wanted a soft caramel. Now I know I can just buy a can that is ready made.

Hello! Saying hi before I hit the sack. That moon is still pretty full.
 Quoting: Isis One

Yes, and it's still messing w/my sleep! This has been going on for a week now and I'm exhausted! The full moon often messes w/my sleep, but this is the worst I've experienced in a long time. I thought by this weekend it would finally wear off but apparently it hasn't. I can't believe I'm still functioning, I'm averaging about 3 hours of sleep less than ideal/normal every night since about last Sunday.

Do be careful Kickin', I do see the big radar blotch of snow in your area. We aren't getting any snow except a brief covering that melts off because we keep hitting 40 deg. every few days, looking ahead temperature 40 on Christmas eve.
Bummer, no snow for Christmas.

Today, going to make a couple batches of my famous chocolate / pecan / toffee candy. Layers:
chopped nuts / toffee / nuts / chocolate / nuts / white chocolate drizzle.

Gotta' get in the mail to daughter and husband,(I put it in two boxes with their names on them, measured out in equal amounts, grams, because they fight over who has more and also accuse of stealing...sigh)

the other batch goes to the gang at the dentist. (they love it, and it's so good for the teeth you know).

Time goes so fast anymore and it's hard to keep up...

Good morning to all of you wonderful people here..

Don't worry about me, I'm not leaving the house! I will be baking (again) all day long. They've upped the snowfall potential here to 4-8"! However, it's one of those storms that if there is a shift north or south to any extent, it could change things. The freezing rain will be overnight a little bit, then mostly tomorrow morning. Then another band of snow to bring a few more inches tomorrow afternoon. Which pretty much confirms that I'm going to work from home tomorrow, no need to go out in that mess. Plus, then I have another day to get baking done :)

Your candy sounds delicious, and it cracks me up you give some to your dentist's office. I think toffee is their enemy, lol
 Quoting: KickinIt

We’re getting that storm Monday afternoon into Tuesday. I’m going to get stuff to make cookies. I hope it’s over by Tuesday at noon. I’ve got appointments Tuesday starting at 1:30, I can’t afford to miss as next week the office will be closed. Not that I want to but everyone winds up canceling that Holiday week. I want to make seven layer cookies but need to figure out how to get them a little more moist. I love them but they can be a little dry.

I agree, some wreak havoc, others not so much. I like your idea about the list of questions, this would be a good one! You'd think they'd all affect us the same.

P.S. - I did sleep much better last night. I figured at some point I'd be so exhausted I'd have to! I woke up a few times but overall slept through the night until about 7:20 this morning. And I crashed early, around 10:30 or shortly thereafter, I think. That's close to 9 hours, which is my ideal amount of sleep time.

The New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812 - SSGI Analysis

Between December 1811 and February 1812 several major seismic events occurred in the New Madrid Seismic Zone reaching 7 to 8 magnitude. There is still much debate among scientists as to what caused this huge seismic activity in an otherwise seismically quiet region.

In this video the seismic events are seen in light of specific planetary and lunar geometry as depicted by the SSGI. As it turns out, there is great similarity to the geometry that occurred prior to the magnitude 9.0 Japan earthquake of 2011.
