Just as well you will miss the concert Kickin', stay away from crowds. Bummer, though for you.

Haha, good point Arnie. Not a big deal. I like the band and would like to see them in my lifetime, but if I don't, it might be a bummer but I won't have "concert regret" like I do with some other artists.

A few bands I regret I never saw live, and will never forgive myself for: Beastie Boys, The Clash

interesting note in another thread,,poster Happy in Nature

A side note: It is alleged that during the Spanish Flu outbreak, no one working with cinnamon (processing plant) developed the flu. Cinnamon has an anti-inflammatory effect and blocks the flu pathogen from spreading. A cup of cinnamon tea with honey every day is supposedly one of the best ways to keep the body healthy.

I only went to one (rock) concert in my life:
Meat Loaf, in the 1970's...the booming sound made my chest
hurt / throb, I thought I'd have a heart attack, wtf............and everyone around us was doing weed, was offered a puff from a nearby stoner, accepted....but only that one.
After in the parking lot, people were dancing on top of their cars.
..that was enough for my career in rock music appreciation..

It's not for everyone. I for one LOVE the live music experience. I have been to so many concerts you wouldn't believe it. Even saw Meatloaf once when I was in college! I'm lucky that I have managed to see most of the artists I would want to, and then some. Minus those few concert regrets that I can't let go of. I don't go to nearly as many shows as I used to, but I don't always feel the need since I've seen so many bands - a lot of them multiple times. There are still bands that I will see every time they come through town, no matter what. There's something very moving about hearing/seeing live music. It affects me. I think I've mentioned that I can't go to the symphony without crying. I don't do that at a rock show, but I will lose myself in the music and it's a nice release. I also like how live shows connect people, even if just for that short period.

You know what I'm talking about Mr. S! One upside of your situation though is that you might still have a chance!

I struggle with the Beastie Boys one on a semi-regular basis. Every time I think of it I get sick to my stomach. I am a HUGE Beastie Boys fan, from day 1 in 1986 until their last album in 2011. They put out a really good instrumental album in their later years ( [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] They did a tour for that album, first in a while, and as usual there weren't a ton of dates. I considered going to see them on one of their dates in L.A. One of my BFFs lives there and I preferred to go to with someone who loved them as much as I do. It was on a Wednesday so I was looking at a very quick trip because I didn't have much vacation time. At the time I recall I was also reluctant to spend the money. The flight and the concert ticket altogether weren't cheap and finances were a lot tighter at the time. I debated about it for a few days until I had to make a decision, and I begrudgingly talked myself into being responsible and not spending the money. I remember calling my friend to tell him, and saying "I have a feeling I might end up regretting this". This was 2007. MCA was diagnosed with cancer just a year or two later. They did only a couple of random shows in '09 and then never played again due to MCA being sick. And of course, MCA died in 2012, and my dream of seeing them died with him. He was my favorite of the 3, too. If I could kick my own ass, I would.

Do me a favor, go see The Who! They are touring this year. Not many US dates, but perhaps the Kentucky show might be an option? They also might add more dates as time goes on. Save this link and keep an eye on it.

That's very odd, because I don't think I've ever seen an artist tour and not play in California. Between LA, San Fran and San Diego, it seems impossible a band wouldn't at least hit one of the three. Of course, I'm sure these days Meatloaf doesn't play a lot of dates to begin with. If you get the chance, go see him. Don't be an ass like me and have concert regret.

ETA:
Meatloaf has 1 upcoming date on the books. Unfortunately it's in England. Keep an eye on it, you never know when these old guys might book a random date.,

UPDATE: Transmission of #coronoavirus estimated at 2.6 by another research group (lower than the 3.8 initial reports). But 2.6 is still extremely bad —each infected person will infect 2.6 others. Even the authors admit #CoronaOutbreak containment will be very difficult. Thread: This implies that control measures need to block well over 60% of transmission to be effective in controlling the outbreak. Whether transmission is continuing at the same rate currently depends on the effectiveness of current control measures implemented in China

When all of my medical problems started, I acquired some mobility issues and, truth be told, I HATE getting into large crowds. I get VERY anxious...I'd have to take a bunch of happy pills to even get me into the venue.

It is cool that they are still touring...with 2 original members even. The tickets aren't terribly priced...maybe I'll think on doing this for personal growth.

I get it, I don't have medical problems and I can't deal with crowds as well these days. A lot of the shows I tend to see are small-medium venues, so these days I just stay towards the back if I'm in a standing situation. Gone are the days when I'm front and center by the stage, barely able to move.

A band like the Who will only pay large venues, so the upside there is that you can usually get around ok without the crowd being too bothersome. As long as you don't get a seat on the floor, I think you'd be good.

Just felt quite a big one in New Zealand. It is showing up as a 5.4 in Paraparaumu which is close to Wellington. I live over 3 hours from there and it felt like a couple of good shakes.

As we are 3 hours from the epicentre I would imagine it has shaken things up a bit down near Wellington.

Waiting to hear from my sister down that way to see if there has been any damage.

Fingers crossed that will be that for tonight.

And happy Saturday everyone. Let's not forget that it sometimes may seem there is nothing but doom in this world, but our own offline world shows us too that that's more than often not true.

So try to detach, get your mind on positive things and beauty around you, breathe and enjoy your day!

Much love to all.
