Is this a usual place for such an earthquake? I have never seen any of you report a larger one around there, at least not that I know of.

The Haiti earthquake of 2010 was a 7. But I don't think I've seen a 7.7 hit there recently.

Just did some checking up on the magnitude. Biggest EQ since the 8.0 in Peru on May 26, 2019 if I am not mistaken.

Could this be triggered by the Puerto Rico activity there the past weeks, since the Puerto Rico Trench seems to be a connecting spot with the American and Caribbean Plate?

No, not a usual spot at all. Especially for big ones! The last 6+ earthquake in the Cuba region was in 2007 and it was a 6.2.

Today is the only 7+ that shows up when searching EMSC (furthest we can go back is 2004).

I should've expanded my search area to include Haiti. My search was only for Cuba Region based on today's location.

This is scary because I woke up around the time when quake happened. Not liking the pattern I see I mean quakes going west .Seems like whole fault is about to rupture

I was thinking the same thing

There was at least that one person who tested negative twice before testing positive on the third test days later

Another one of those "3 days before or 3 days after" the full or new moons. Very big quakes there! Keeping a close eye on the area.

Just a side note, remember; hand sanitizer will NOT kill viruses unless they are alcohol based.

It is always odd for me to see one there. Some vague sense of something wrong.

Side note: just had a bunch of alcohol-based hand sanitizer delivered this morning. We are fully stocked for a long while - before they're all sold out.

Same thing with N95 masks we had a few boxes in our earthquake kits.

Good thinking. I dumped half of my son's little hand sanitizer bottle and filled it with rubbing alcohol. He knows to use it often and does since I fill it often with a large refill bottle. I know it is mostly useless (not with the alcohol) but training him to stay vigilant. Even with his special needs, he learns things like that easily. Just not reading, writing and math. Science is his thing, lol. Especially the sun, moon, and quakes......gee I wonder why??? Hee heee

Lol that Ron Jeremy pic. I met him once when I was visiting L.A. Ran into him at my favorite bar there. I asked for a pic - he was super nice about it and the picture still cracks me up. He definitely looks just as skeevy in person as you would expect, but I will say he didn't act that way. My friend still makes fun of me for approaching him by calling him "Mr. Jeremy".
