Uh oh, PNW starting to rumble....wonder if the Wanda Fuca will pop.

Full moon this week, those close asteroids, the sun acting a little wonky, planetary alignments...what else is going on that can influence earthquakes?

chuckle Good typo/autocorrect!

I think you hit the key things. Ionosphere can be a factor too. Actually, I'm not sure if changes in the ionosphere are a contributor to quakes happening or if they are more of a warning sign/precursor.

I just saw that a bunch more prominence's showed up other than the one that is raining plasma. Was in the article that was posted previously

All this talk about Cinco de Mayo forced me to break down and make a margarita. I had a real debate about it in my head, but then realized what the hell?! Why am I trying to talk myself out of this? Why NOT have a margarita?

April 13, 2029: the 1,100 foot wide Apophis asteroid will come so close to Earth it will pass below some satellites. @NASA
and @SpaceForceDoD
will work together to enhance how we detect near-Earth objects and develop strategies for mitigating threats.

'Super Flower Moon' Rising - The Last Supermoon Of The Year Will Dazzle Skies

Skywatchers are set to enjoy the last supermoon of 2020 in May when the flower Moon lights up the sky.

Named for the arrival of spring flowers, the “Super Flower Moon” is the last in a series of four supermoons. It's showcasing the 4th-closest (and therefore the 4th-largest) full moon of the year.

The term "supermoon" was coined by the astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979 and refers to either a new or full Moon that occurs within 90% of perigee, its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit.

The Moon will be full on May 7 at at 10:45 UTC (6:45 a.m. ET), according to NASA.

There is nothing more beautiful than a Full Moon lighting up the sky at night. Weather permitting, skywatchers around the world will be able to see the last Supermoon of the year. Take a few minutes out of your evening and enjoy the show.

Clear Skies Everyone!

We will have clear skies here the coming days, so hopefully with clearer vision due to the lockdown, we will see it over here as well. But there is so much light everywhere around here and the skies seem so much clearer and closer where you are or anywhere in the States. Seen it when I visited MA and Texas way back in the 90s. hf

Ummmm what???

What in the hell kind of reactions can that do to the sun??? Has anyone ever seen this before? I know I haven't. I thought a prominence was just a filament seen when black space was behind it before it turned towards the earth.

I know I have never seen a filament that large just hovering over the sun RAINING PLASMA

wtf

Wonder if it could trigger some nice CME's or some explosions of some kind...who the heck knows. Thanks for posting though

I've seen this before, but never with such a great video!

If that filament rips off, it will most likely produce a CME. Something to keep an eye on.
