It looks a lot like Texas. Stephen Hummel was walking across the famous University of Texas observatory grounds a couple hours after sunset on May 13th when he noticed the flash of lightning from a distant thunderstorm. Anyway...
I've had to get a new wi-fi router. Again. I just got one in January but this freaking piece of crap is now literally requiring a full modem + router reboot every day. I don't need new firmware because I have that firmware on the router already. WTF.
I have no choice but to upgrade to yet another one, because I have been through all the troubleshooting steps and nothing works to fix the issue.
It's about the third router I've been through that does that. Yeesh! Hopefully, my next one - with wifi 6 capabilities up to 6 Gbps and 3500 sq ft range w/capability for 30+ devices will do the job.

I thought you guys would find the numbers interesting. Used EMSC records for Nevada [ link to www.emsc-csem.org (secure)] The first Nevada quake of 2020 was on the 3rd of January. A total of 108 between then and the first recorded on the 15th May. Average seemed to be 1-3 quakes per day 2 days in March with 5 1 day in March with 4 1 day in Feb with 5 1 day in Jan with 4 The first on the 15th May was a small 2.0 mag about 7 hours before the big one. It's now getting close to 400 quakes since that first one on the 15th. I think that's in about 34 hours? I might be a bit off with time differences and time zones though. Thanks for all the updates posted here, it's fascinating. And of course thanks for all the cats. It's interesting to see there wasn't much notable lead up to the big one. Although EMSC usually only includes M2.0 and up, so it makes me wonder if we looked elsewhere and included Mag. 1.0 and up if there might've been any little microquake swarms in the area prior. Here is the usgs aftershock forecast for the 6.5 in Nevada. [ link to earthquake.usgs.gov (secure)] It looks like the amount of quakes we're seeing is normal. The volume of M3+ quakes is a bit high, however, it's only been 24 hours since the quake. But the forecast says for the first week to expect 70-160 aftershocks at M3+. At the time of this forecast they say there had already been 114 M3 or higher EQs. I guess we'll see if that rate continues or if it dies down, but I know as of last night it already looked to be dying down a bit, while the 2.0-range quakes were increasing. Hope you hang around, UK Chronic Lurker! |
