Hi guys, been Mia all week. Last Sunday night, early Monday morning the ground water from the storm came down the hill I live on with such force it exploded my basement foundation wall. It’s the wall across the back of my house.
The wall is laying on the basement floor. Firemen put temporary supports in to keep house from collapsing. Contractor today began removing debris and placed sturdier temporary posts. Gas and water had to be shut off so I’m staying overnights at the local Hampton Inn.
Furnace, hot water heater and basement sink were all against that wall as well as a huge custom built shelving unit. It’s all been pushed 4-5 feet out from wall. Pipes burst etc. Everything in basement covered in mud, silt and had to be thrown out.
Won’t see the adjuster til Tuesday morning at 8am. Spoke briefly on the phone finally Wednesday evening. He seemed helpful so far. Gave the ok for dumpster, and replacement of temp. Posts.
It seems State has diverted a shit ton of roadway runoff down the little trench that runs behind all our houses. Two houses up the trench is clogged. The “river” shot over the top of the culvert and got directed into my yard and at back of my house. Huge sink hole at neighbors across the street.
Will be shitshow getting problem fixed. Township sends us to the State. State sends us back to township, yada, yada yada. Had to get a lawyer.
Sorry for long post but wanted to answer as many questions as I could.
