Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated*5.5 Afghanistan ~ Pg 20354 Hubby cleaned up leaves earlier today. The huge contractor bags and 3 of them after he sat on them several times to get the most in there. Most of the trees here are so beautiful, golden, orange and a few red ones. Likely will have 10 more bags full of leaves but with moisture coming in (possibly) he wanted to get as much now
Quoting: WhiteAngel That's a lot of leaves and a lot of work, bless him. And I love that halloween candelabra! Can't beat 50 cents. Quoting: KickinIt I made a killing at the Halloween Store, 2 days after. Got so much stuff for less than $20. Came home with it all and Mr Angel wasn't looking too angelic at me. Before Halloween the stuff would have been well over $150. When I told him the price, he laughed and said he thought I had lost my mind. He never seemed to care when I bought stuff, even if too expensive, but that time he was relieved. I knew the following year we were going to have a big Halloween party so everything was bought for it. Well, not the food. Quoting: WhiteAngel It pays to hit the sales after holidays. There's a small window before things are picked over so you have to be on top of it, which I'm usually not. My sister is good at doing that kind of thing. She loves a bargain. This is the sister who has a whole list of places she goes on her birthday to get her free gift, meal or whatever. Quoting: KickinIt My daughter did the rounds on her birthday. I used to always hit the stores after Christmas especially for the gift wrap and supplies. Decorations were great but in the last few years nothing really went down in price. 25% off wasn't even worth it in some cases. |

Quoting: mistersplinter I wondered, I knew he was of borderline age. You never know, kids either let go once they decide they are too old, or they stretch it out as long as they can. Someone on my NextDoor feed here made a good comment recently, instead of being irritated by older kids/teens who are still trick or treating, be glad they are doing something positive and fun with their friends vs. out causing problems or engaging in negative stuff. I thought that was a very good point. Especially in today's world when teens are out there committing half the crimes! Quoting: KickinIt I agree. He pretty much quit trick or treating around age 8. He'd dress up and hand out candy to the kids who came by. That lasted a couple of years until he gave up the costumes part. He still seems to enjoy handing out candy...that is when we actually get trick or treaters. The last few years, it seems the kids all go to the newer, ritzy subdivisions to trick or treat. We in the 'historic district' get overlooked. Such a bummer... Lol, that is my yearly I-wish-kids-would-come-take-my-candy rant. Quoting: mistersplinter Sadly, the art of trick or treating seems to be slowly disappearing as "trunk or treats" and group gatherings of neighbors/friends become the norm. I guess with all the wackos in the world, the increase in crime and the increase in fear, the good ol' days of going house to house with reckless abandon are over. Once again, I'm glad I grew up when I did. Quoting: KickinIt Me too. Life for these kids isn't the freedom and fun we had. Plus there wasn't a recording of our every move. Hate it. |

I don't even need my space heater anymore Quoting: Simple27 We set our at 68 for the day and 67 at night. Right now the windows are open getting some fresh air in the house Quoting: WhiteAngel No matter how cold it is out, we use the air conditioner in the bedroom. Underneath very warm blankets lol. It gets hotter in the bedroom than in the main living area. Smaller space, door closed. But even in the dead of winter lol. Main house during the day though (without those blankets) heat up! Retiring the space heater lol. Quoting: Simple27 20 degrees outside and I have a window cracked when sleeping. Love it |
