Read this....this is a first hand account of a test subject.

No thanks! You literally lay in bed, can't even sit up, for 70 straight days. F* That!

NASA Is Paying Me $18,000 to Lie in Bed for Three Months

After the three-week pre-bed rest phase, there was but one mission left: to get in bed and stay there for 70 days. I gathered and arranged all that I could put within arm's reach of my bed. I used a proper toilet one last time. I looked out the window for a final view of the outside world. Then, it was time to go head-down.

Almost immediately, I was fighting the six degree angle. Every time I turned or twitched, I slid toward the headboard and, within a few minutes, was slammed against it with my neck turned sideways. To resist the gravitational pull, I laid as still as possible, but then the back pain began to set in.

I had been warned that back pain and headaches were common during the first few days of bed rest. The spine is not accustomed to remaining horizontal for an extended period, and it takes on the weight of internal organs above. The shift in blood flow to the upper body also increases pressure in the skull--all things that made lying down very, very uncomfortable at first.

Later that day, the nurses brought my first meal in bed: soup.

Not that great of a deal when you think about it.

13 days (possibly 21) sequestered to prepare, 70 days in bed, then another 14 days to re-acclimate to walking and any other activity. That's 97 days minimum, 105 days maximum.

$18,000/97 days = $185.57 per day
$185.57/24 hours = $7.73 per hour

$18,000/105 days = $171.43 per day
$171.43/24 hours = $7.14 per hour

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour

You're not really getting paid all that well. Especially when you take into consideration you're sequestered, loss of wages (if you're currently employed), and the toll on your body. It will take months to recover muscle mass loss due to atrophy. Who knows what other experiments they'll do on you while you're in there. You can also guarantee the IRS will take their cut. They'll most likely calculate the initial tax hit as if that were part of your annual wage which calculate annually comes to roughly $72,000. Between the state and feds knock 25% off. Which drives the per hour rate even further down.

"Pre-bed rest period" From the same link I posted above...

The first few days were a blur of body scans, needles, physical tests; urine jugs filled, collected, and analyzed. One day, amongst the laundry list of testing on my daily schedule, I saw the "Muscle Twitch Test" on my agenda. Researchers strapped me into a modified leg extension machine, put a shin guard on my right leg, and fastened it to the machine while they explained the nature of the test: "The brain only allows you to exert about 85 percent of a muscle's full capability, so in order to bypass that limitation and measure the full force of your muscle, we are attaching these electrodes to your leg to stimulate it directly at varying amperages until we find its maximum output." In layman terms, they shocked the fuck out of my leg some 20 times to see how hard I would kick. After the fifth shock, I was wincing and cursing; by the tenth, I was wishing eternal damnation upon all of NASA.

I don't think that it would do that for me. If I use an instant inhaler is knocks me out. Better than any sleeping pill for that matter. Where my wife gets wired, shaky and high pulse rate. My body is weird like that though.

Hope you get back to bed soon.

Just looked. Appears Iceland and Romania were the most recent. It'd be interesting if a big quake happened near Japan, or anywhere for that matter, now that you've said that.

It will have to be at least a 7.7+ to really make me wonder though.

It didn't used to do that. Only when I did a back to back neb. The inhalers even make me shake if I use two puffs. It started when I was in the hosp last March with pneumonia, just odd how our bodies can change.

Still tight so I will need another one in a little bit.

An infusion of Thyme, breathing the vapour of infusion. From a container which covers the nose and mouth. No outside breaths for about three minutes. Keep the thyme from each infusion whilst adding a spoonful of new Thyme each infusion....

Fresh Thyme works best for me but I do use dried Thyme in a pinch.

Drinking Goats Milk has always been good for our family with Asthma. Most of my family used to suffer from bad lungs, but me, well I'm writing this.

Oil pulling is also good for Bronchial/Sinus issues.
