WATCH: Archive footage of the 1990 Baguio earthquakeThis year marks the 25th anniversary of the 1990 Baguio earthquake, a magnitude 7.6 tremor that killed more than 1,600 people and shook the nation's psyche to its core. In this archive footage, GMA's Romie del Moro reports on the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. Complementing his report from the studio, newscaster Jose Mari Velez spoke in a heavy and somber voice about the mounting desperation surrounding the lack of precious lifelines. Quoting: WhiteAngel I really wish we would get a nice thunderstorm here. It's SO humid and in the 80's almost every day. I think it was 90 here on Sunday. The humidity this morning before I left for work was at 88%. Right now, at almost 6:30pm, it's still at 72%. And the news is talking about how humid it's going to be tomorrow. Ugh. I don't like it at all. We need a good storm to cool it down. Last week was awful too with the humidity. ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Discovery indicates the current fault zone is much deeper than previously thought, and that it used to be a subduction zone, where the North American plate collided with the Pacific plate, about 30 million years ago.
