Important to remember that even if Erika survives as a weak, disorganized system that is still has the potential to cause flooding issues and be a significant event. We've already seen Erika do just that in the Caribbean. If Erika were to follow the current track, that would put a large portion of Florida in the heavier area of storms for a good period of time. Still need to be vigilant with Erika. [link to www.wunderground.com]

Fredric was downgraded to a depression on September 6, 1979, and expected to completely fizzle. 6 days later it slammed the MS/AL state line as a CAT 4 hurricane. I rode it out in Mobile, AL. If Erika's path is a bit more westerly than predicted (like it's predicted path has changed overnight( and it stays over the Gulf waters, it will be a battle between the negative effect of wind shear and the strengthening effect of the extremely warm waters of the Gulf. I'd say it's a bit too early for anyone to heave a sigh of relief or etch their predictions into stone.

Hello Again from the Hospital Breezeway!!

:WMH:

Vascular studies: DONE-well, at least the ones they could do. Mainly just very long ultrasounds of my legs with blood pressure cuffs on them. This MAJOR swelling & purple coloring is present even when I've been in bed with them elevated for 12 hours. It originally started as "Pre-Tibial Myxedema" from Graves Disease, (auto-immune hypothyroidism); but was *supposed* to go away after they removed my thyroid last year. Obviously, it didn't-it actually got WORSE; to the point that when it gets this bad-I can barely walk-and forget about fitting into shoes.
:BadLeg:

For those that know the difference-yes, it's a pitting edema, so they're running more cardiac tests, (Echo in 15 minutes); but they're also freaking out about my failing kidney (was born with just one-which is deformed, I'm not a candidate for a transplant because of the vascular anatomy of my one, weird, heart-shaped, kidney. That's why they couldn't do the contrast studies for the smaller vessels-my Creat, BUN & GFR are off-not TOO much worse than last week; but enough so I may have to come back tomorrow for peritoneal dialysis again.

Anyways, heading to the Echo, then HOME!! Gotta figure out a "deal" I can make with Bill, (Doc), to get out of dialysis over the weekend!! (I want to put it off till Monday & re-test. My kidney function goes up & down like a yo yo!!

Hope I didn't gross you out too bad!! My leg looks "flakey" because of the goop they used on it-i have to shower & use soap to get it all off. I've been massaging them with a coconut oil/Sesame oil/rose water mix at least twice a day.
Yes WA, I use both coconut & sesame for pretty much everything, I also use ghee for massage, but that gets expensive. All 3 are commonly used in Ayurveda for everything under the sun....AND Moon!! sun

Heavy rain brings risk of flash floods to Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island

B.C.’s hot, dry summer has come to a sudden end, with a deluge of heavy rain over the coming weekend threatening to trigger flash flooding on the South Coast.
The rain began overnight Thursday, with more expected over the next four days in the Vancouver area than had fallen all summer, says Matt MacDonald, an Environment Canada meteorologist.
A low-pressure system that has been sitting off the West Coast will make its way inland, picking up even more moisture from a tropical storm, which struck Hawaii earlier this week.
Forecasters expect from 80 to 120 millimetres of rain between Friday morning and Monday afternoon, compared to the 41 millimetres between June and late August.
“To see this at the end of August is pretty impressive,” he said. “This is definitely substantial. This kind of thing we usually see in October or November when we get to our storm systems.”
About 20 to 30 millimetres are expected to carry over into the mountainous regions of the Interior B.C. during the same period.

Lol, this OLD lady isn't feeling too "beautiful" right now-although the shower Leela & I took DID help; AND I ran into an old friend at the hospital, (he used to be one of the delivery drivers for the pharmacy-finally "retired" at age 91!! ;), who was the 2nd person in 2 weeks who told me how much "better" I'm looking these days. Last year after the surgery, I got down to 89lbs before my body FINALLY realized the thyroid wasn't there anymore. These 2 guys hadn't seen me since last summer...lol, about 40lbs ago chuckle

Getting ready to cuddle with my princess for awhile. She gave me QUITE the welcome home, as usual, and was digging in my bag to find what "special" momma brought her. The transportation guy, my neighbor, and Leela were all a bit confused to see me carrying a bag of goodies (frozen yogurt treats, Strawberry Shortcake bars, a couple of bottles of some designer iced spiced tea, and a couple of flowers)...AND a NEW BROOM!!
I got it all at the hospital gift shop-AND, for reasonable prices too!!! I had NO idea they had brooms-but I needed a good one. The plastic one I got for $17 from the grocery store about 6 months ago, was falling apart like its predecessor. I got a real, GREAT quality, straw broom, made by some nearby Amish folks....*$9*!!!! rockon The lady at the counter was an ANGEL & let me post-date the check till the 1st so I could get everything!! SOME, NOT many, but SOME days, I actually DO have good luck!! chuckle
CuddleLeela

Anyways, NOW: NAP TIME!! Leela's already in her "spot" where she starts out, before inching down to cuddle against my back.
Naaaah, she's not SPOILED!!!
Nite nite!!!!

Last time I canned 20 pints of syrup. It was gone in less than 6 months.
 Quoting: WhiteAngel

Have you ever made peach liqueur with the syrup? I made some MANY years ago when I was going through what I called: "my Cordial stage". I've never like the taste of ANY alcohol (although I DID go through a short "expensive dry white wino stage", lol); but I could tolerate some liqueur like Tia Maria, Kalhua, Bailey's, etc mixed in with coffee-or just milk w Kalhua; the stuff was WAY too expensive, so I decided to make my own!! My favorites were my extra super-duper caffeine coffee liqueur, caramel liqueur, cherry liqueur and a creme-de-menth liqueur. My friends & family really liked the peach, chocolate, strawberry & limon liqueurs.

They're all pretty easy AND make GREAT gifts for the Holidays!! That's where 99% of mine went, lol, for 2-3 years every adult I knew got a large Mason jar of Liqueur-decorated by the kids. chuckle
