Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated*5.5 Afghanistan ~ Pg 20354
I have to share one of the creepiest/scariest moments that happened just a little while ago. I am counting my blessings that I just so happened to be watching this time...for no real reason.

My daughter got home from cheering practice. Tonight is her last night of freedom before school starts on Thursday so I told her she could sleep at her friend's house tonight. She was with this friend when she got home from practice (which is right across the street).

Her friend's mom was going to pick them up at a little pizza place that is right around the corner from my house. I can literally see it from my window/front stairs. She was picking them up there because she's never been to my house and the main road is easier for a landmark.

Anyway, so my daughter and her friend were starting to walk over towards the pizza place. I don't usually watch her walk to where she's going when it's that close, she's with a friend and the cheerleaders/football players all just got out of practice so there were people around.

For whatever reason I did watch tonight. I was sitting on my front porch and just after they crossed the street towards the school a little red sports car pulled up kind of in front of my house, but on the other side of the street. I was thinking that maybe they knew my daughter or her friend. But as the girls continued to walk across the school parking lot towards the street that we live off of, the car pulled away from where it parked and took a right into the school parking lot (exactly towards where the girls were right after stopping once right where they were).

My oblivious young daughter noticed nothing. When I saw the car pull into the school parking lot towards them I yelled her name. She turned around facing me and I yelled 'do you know who that car is?'

She yells back no so I say okay keep walking. The car then pulled up right near them and stopped. WTF?! I yelled over again and told her to start walking back towards the house. I then started walking towards them. The car drove off but circled the general area (not my specific street) at least 4 more times.

VERY SCARY! My daughter kept saying she was so glad that I was watching. It freaked her and her friend out almost as much as it freaked me out.

I hope she at least learned something tonight.

sigh

About 6 years ago, there used to be a weird man in his 50s that would "walk" his dog right as school was let out. I too live across the street from a middle school. I don't know how long it was going on before I noticed.

He had a beat up early 80s Ford truck with a canopy. He'd pull up and park down the dead end, across from the school. He'd show up 10 minutes spot on before the bell would ring. The bell would ring, he'd get out and "walk" his dog. Then always leave exactly 15 minutes later.

I thought it was weird, so I stated to pay attention and note times and days down. He would show up every Tuesday and Thursday and every other Monday. So after 2 months I just knew he was hunting for kids. So I was going to use the non emergency number and report it with all my data, his info and plate number, dog breed, you know all the stuff the police tell you do anyways. Then the next day, out back BBQing my neighbor comes over. We're talking and he brings up the creepy older man that "walks" his dog a couple times a week right as school is let out. Turns out not only I, but my neighbor and another neighbor were keeping an eye on him.

My neighbor told me, he and the other neighbor and called to report it. Was just told to document things, then get back in a few weeks. So I called the next afternoon to report. The lady on the phone didn't really care much, until I got into detail. Then she was all professional and mentioned I'm not the only one in my neighborhood reporting. Then next Thursday, he showed up as usual. But something cool happened. Two men pulled up, got out and talked to him for a long time. Like half an hour. I'm sure they were detectives.

It really does pay to be a nosy person in your neighborhood, or at least your block.

I forgot to say above, that I know he was just a suspicious person and that's not a crime. But at least he got on the cops radar.

I couldn't see the license plate by the time I became suspicious. Not even sure what the make/model of the car is. Never expected to see what I saw. All I know is that it was a red sports car. Ugh!

Yes , it's always good to be weary of such activity , Recently in town , there were a few approaches made towards kids here too , fortunatly for them he was caught red handed (same guy) by Armed Police who just so happened to be patrolling the area at the time , due to the recent Security Alerts in the town!

Needless to say he is now behind bars... ( Thankfully )!!!

Nice job Simple !
You know, nothing says stay the fuck away from my kids like a .45 through the hood, or a Louisville Slugger upside the head, or a stripped extension cord, a gallon of gas, roll of duct tape and box of no doze.

Anyways, good job protecting the mini !

Thanks Gomez. My motherly instinct kicked into high gear. The sad thing is that I really wasn't planning on sitting out there and watching her. I didn't even have my phone with me. :\

She asked me afterwards what I would have done if I saw the person pull her into the car. First instinct...HAUL ASS towards that car!

But, I have to be honest with myself...I'm not nearly as fast as a sports car lol.

I hate even having to think of such a thing occurring right outside of my house. With many people around.

I told her, THIS is the very reason that I'm a 'pain in your ass.' And always want her to check in whenever she arrives somewhere new. And always want to know what she's doing and who she's with.

Like I said, I really hope she learned something tonight.

Oh, and have I ever mentioned that I need to move?

ugh...
