There are some interesting exceptions to the ‘no meat on Fridays’ rule

Lent represents a period of fasting and abstinence in which strict observers do not eat meat on Fridays and eat fish instead. There are a few interesting exceptions to the rule however; in the late 1600s a group of monks in France classified a Puffin as a fish, as its “natural habitat was as much terrestrial as aquatic,” allowing it to be eaten on Fridays. The National Bishops’ Conference approved a New Orleans archbishop’s declaration two years ago that alligators may be eaten on Fridays, because it “is considered in the fish family,” and in 2006 a number of bishops in America gave their Irish heritage worshipers special dispensation to eat meat on one Friday during Lent. This was because St Patrick’s Day, which in America carries the tradition of eating corned beef brisket, fell on a Friday.

I spent 5 minutes researching Donegal Fish. Nothing fish came up, just a country in Ireland and lot of travel packages and agents to go there.

Man Dies After Wave Knocks Him Into The Waters Off Pacifica
February 9, 2016 10:20 PM

PACIFICA (CBS SF) — A 60-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after he and a woman in Pacifica were apparently swept into the ocean by a large wave.

The San Mateo County coroner’s office said Larry Moore was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m., about five minutes after he was pulled from the ocean by a Coast Guard helicopter.

The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the incident around 2 p.m. and staged a water rescue near the Pacifica Pier after the couple was knocked into the water, according to Coast Guard Lt. Marcia Medina.

The woman was pulled to safety by an unknown party by the time rescuers arrived, but Larry Moore appeared to be unconscious when he was pulled from the water.. .

Krebs on Security has posted a new item.

Microsoft Windows users and those with Adobe Flash Player or Java installed,
it's time to update again! Microsoft released 13 updates to address some three
dozen unique security vulnerabilities. Adobe issued security updates for its
Flash Player software that plugs at least 22 security holes in the widely-used
browser plugin. Meanwhile, Oracle issued an unscheduled security fix for Java,
its second security update for Java in as many weeks.

Video of mini tsunami that takes beachgoers by surprise in Chile

Awesome! Holidaymakers should start storm surges
It happened in Laguna Verde and video posted on Facebook shows the strength of the sea, in what appeared to be a mini-tsunami.
8 FEB 2016

And to show the strength of the sea, a Facebook user uploaded a video showing how the waves came to power at the beach of Laguna Verde , Valparaiso Region, which is large in size and width, causing the flight of vacationers to see how the water was almost to his knees.

The recording quickly viralizó in what appears to be a mini-tsunami, but are storm surges affecting most of the coast. . .

These mini tsunamis have been happening a lot the last month. On the West Coast of America too. A lot are brushing them off as Rouge Waves. Rouge Waves are a thing, but they happen out at sea and are rare. If they do hit the beach, Rouge Waves are that, just a wave that washed in and out, only huge as in tall. They don't keep washing in and in and in. If that makes sense?
 Quoting: deanoZXT

I am uneasy about these mini tsunamis also.
Just because it's becoming frequent does NOT make it normal. No no no not at all.
Good morning guys...lol it really is morning here too 10pm uk time and I am awake. Where is my medal haha Xx

I think most of you here, regulars and regular lurkers know I dink a lot. But More tonight then usual. I happend to make it to the grocery today. Then about half hour ago. Got news I have very few hours staring tomorrow, until next Wednesday. like 15 hrs. So I'm going to be strapped for a couple weeks. Most of us know, might be a good amount in checking, but once you miss a pay check, it backs you up for a week or two or more... Even union and a gov job, still sucks. I'm not on salary.

But still no worries. I know a lot of you have health issues. And you all always have my good thoughts. I'm sorry for that. I'm just fat. I can deal with that. lol

This week has been nothing but almost one bad luck piece of crap after the other. As long as I can leave the week with my job intact I'll be happy. I was laid off last year on February 10th. Sigh. And I am wearing basically the same outfit TODAY that I was when I was laid off last year. I was scared to death most of today.

Not gonna whine about being single, though. Gonna try reeeeeeaaaallly freaking hard. I'll just put something sarcastic out there to round out the week's bad luck with an early Valentines Day bah humbug.

I'm going to sleep. Good night! Not anywhere near as hard as I need to sleep to sleep off the bad luck, I'm gonna try.
