WEEKEND SUPERMOON: This weekend's full Moon is a "supermoon"--as much as 14% closer and 30% brighter than other full Moons we have seen earlier this year. Chris Cook photographed the lunar orb rising over Cape Cod, Massachusetts: [link to spaceweathergallery.com]

I thought it looked closer and bigger. Was cloudy here last night, but I could see bits of it at times.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the supermoon in November will be the closest the moon's been to the earth in a while. I remember reading that somewhere. Probably here, lol.

Thought I'd quit being lazy for a moment and actually find a link. Here's one [link to earthsky.org]

"The full moon of November 14, 2016 is not only the biggest, closest and brightest supermoon of the year. It’s the closest supermoon thus far in the 21st century (2001 to 2100). The moon won’t come this close to Earth again until November 25, 2034".....
 Quoting: KickinIt

Yup, I was gonna say that this was mentioned in the Super Moon video that Intermezzo posted earlier. : )

Can't wait to see the November Super Moon!

It sounds like many of us here lucked out and had a clear night to see it last night. Hopefully that will be the case next month!

I am not sleeping tonight that's for sure.

Try to check out all charts. I felt something odd today as well. Like a pressure you normally feel at heights or on a plane. We all know that the Netherlands is all flat and no height differentials at all....was a strange feeling. Like a pressure on ears.

The sun is disappearing, and you have only 10 months to prepare

Don’t say you weren’t warned: Aug. 21, 2017, “may turn out to be the most popular vacation-day request in history,” Michael E. Bakich writes in Discover magazine — so you may want to get that time-off request in early.

Why? Because on that date — for the first time in 99 years — a total eclipse of the sun will be visible across the United States, from sea to temporarily-not-shining sea. Millions of Americans will be in easy driving distance of a spectacle that has been called indescribable, unforgettable, even life-altering. The sun will disappear for about 2½ minutes, beginning in Oregon about 10:15 a.m. local time; the phenomenon will move eastward, ending an hour and a half later in South Carolina. In between, the eclipse will be visible from Grand Teton and the Great Smoky Mountains national parks, from St. Louis and Kansas City and Charleston, S.C., and all points in between.

The last time a total eclipse was visible coast to coast was June 8, 1918, and it was front-page news nationwide. In “Plan Now for the 2017 Eclipse,” Bakich — a senior editor at Astronomy magazine — takes very seriously the idea that if you don’t plan ahead, you could miss out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Geomagnetic Storm in Progress

A high speed solar wind stream is currently moving past Earth over 700 km/s and a minor (G1) geomagnetic storm is currently in progress. A moderate (G2) storm watch will also be in effect for the next 24 hours. High latitude sky watchers should be alert for visible aurora tonight once dark outside.

Sun, moon and Earth align for stunning supermoon finale to 2016 (PHOTOS)

This year is closing on a lunar high note with the spectacular ‘supermoon’ phenomenon expected to occur an incredible three times before the end of 2016 - the first of which can be seen tonight.
October 16 is the first night of the year when there will not only be a full moon in the night sky, but it will also be at its closest point to Earth, making it a ‘supermoon’.

Less %50 of article

also First Day of Sukkot very interesting gang.
