A piece of good news for us. My husband, has been working for UPS for a year, just 2 hours a night with one goal; get their medical insurance.
Before Jan 2014 we were paying $350 a month premiums through his job at IBM. Starting Jan 1, 2014 the obammy care kicked in for corporations and our premiums went up to $750, $400 hurt but we were okay, sorta. Then Jan 2016 the premiums went up to $890 per month. We have been barely making it. Car is on its last leg, we are barely keeping food on the table.
On Jan 1, 2017 our premium will be almost $1,100 per month. We were facing selling the house and moving into an apartment.
So glad he had been working at UPS for those 2 hours a night. Starting Jan 1, 2017, instead of paying $1,100 per month that we don't have, we will be paying ......
Nothing. A big fat zero. Zip. Ziltch. Nada.
We will drop the IBM insurance and move totally to UPS which pays 100% of their employees premiums. The insurance is good also, better than the Kaiser plan we have had for years now.
God is good!!!! Almost $900 more in our pocket than we have now and $1,100 more than if we stayed with the IBM plan. We will save to put down half on a 2 year old car (or so) (our car is 22 years old) so we only pay $100-150 a month.
Preps are high on the agenda because we both know that even though Trump is better than killary, our economy is crap and the bubble is still going to pop. Hopefully not as horrible as it would if she was there. The crazy buttercups out protesting an election outcome (blows my mind) scare the crap out of me. They are insane and dangerous as hell. If/when things head south, we do not want to be out and about anymore than necessary.
We have a real reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving.
