I will admit not every prediction or correlation will succeed. But even if 30-40% come true, that is more than what the officials will tell you.

We in this thread have many times got the magnitude and the general timeframe correct by many posters. Even ditrianum does not name locations because he thinks it's impossible due to earths rotation. We know it's not impossible, but very difficult.

If we also would compile all the predictions and magnitudes dutch, ditrianum, even thebarcaroller, we would find they will not get more than 50% correct. They are very adept still.

No one is perfect in earthquake prediction and we are just learning here.
Thank you for letting me learn with you. Much love to all of you! Have a great day!

Shake it off Finland, your correlations do ring true many times, and most of us here appreciate your hard work. And as you said, it is so difficult to predict quakes, any amount of accuracy is good. Keep it up!

With the DOW going up 300+ points today, it got me to thinking about what happened 100 years ago.

We were in a world war 1914-1918

Spanish Flu hit 1918

Roaring Twenties with great economic growth 1920-1929

Are we going to repeat history? If we have a pandemic in the next year or two, dang or dang.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A polar geomagnetic storm is in progress as Earth enters a fast-moving stream of solar wind. This is sparking bright auroras around the Arctic Circle. The solar wind is flowing from a large canyon-shaped hole in the sun's atmosphere and is expected to influence Earth for the next two days. Free: Aurora alerts.

G2 (Moderate) Geomagnetic Storm Warning in Effect - Rapid Sunspot Growth

A G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storm warning is now in effect until 01/2359 UTC (01/1859 ET). Solar wind parameters became further enhanced and solar wind speed is now above 700 km/s; due to effects from a coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS).

Magnetometers in Europe measured K6 (G2) levels of response during the 01/1800-2059 UTC period. G1 storm levels were first reached at 01/1036 UTC (01/0536 ET).

Due to the CH HSS influences, a G1 Watch also remains in effect through the 2 March UTC day.
Arctic sky watchers should remain alert for auroras on Mar. 1-2

Solar Wind Speed: 717 km/sec
Solar Wind Magnetic Fields: Bt 5 nT, Bz -3 nT

Better to be in a zoo or refuge than extinct. Less than 80,000 left in the wild. Life span in the wild 15 years - in captivity 20-25 years.

I have the old zoos with tiny pens. It is nice to see most zoos and refuges expanding the areas the animals are in.

Still catching up so this might've been mentioned, but I read that a giraffe in captivity can live around 10 years longer than if they were in the wild. I don't remember the exact numbers, but in the wild they typically live 15-17 years. April the pregnant one is 15 now, and she's so healthy they think she could carry one to two more offspring.

I have mixed feelings. I don't like to see wild animals in pens, but I also recognize that many animals would be extinct if it weren't for us humans intervening. I will say, after spending WAY too much time watching April - she appears to have a nice life. They clean her pen constantly, give her treats, pet her and interact with her - and she seems happy with it all.

Edit: I realize now WA already beat me on the giraffe life span!

I understand the conflict. We go to the zoo all the time, it is a fun learning experience. I hate the pens but they are treated well, most of the time. Sad world we live in but at least some are not being hunted for trophies and sport.

That's been happening here and there. My guess is it's just a fly or something landing on her that makes her itch. I could be way off on that though, but I know horses will do that too so that's why I assume it's not labor-related.

I thought maybe that's what it was. It happened again while I was watching but this time it looked like it was more the stomach area, not so much the hips. And it was a pretty big movement. Quick, sharp. It may have been the baby kicking, that second one I saw, but contractions came to mind too.
