BigD, SW Fell 7ft off a ladder yesterday. Dislocated my right thumb. Saw it right after I hit the concrete thumb facing 90 degrees in the wrong direction. Before the pain kicked in I grabbed it and pulled and heard it pop back into place. Finished working and today it's all swole up and sore and bruising and hurting too Never take your thumbs for granted. You have no idea how hard it is to button your jeans without using your thumb. Hope life is treating y'all better. Quoting: Nefarious Libertine OMG, that would freak me out! You are braver than I to yank it back into place. No way I could do that! Hope it will heal up quickly and be okay. Quoting: KickinIt It all happened quite suddenly. I landed on the ground and saw my thumb bent back on itself had three very short thoughts. That's not good, That's going to hurt, Pop it back before it does. All three thoughts in under a second. Didn't really think about doing it until I already did it. Didn't have enough time to freak out about it. Swelling has gone down but it's all bruised up. I can flex it a little better today not much though. I wrap it up in an ace bandage at night when I sleep but just leave it open while I work. Anyone think soaking it in epsom salt would help. It says for soaking minor joint aches and bruises. Quoting: Nefarious Libertine Yes, epsom salt will help reduce your pain & inflammation. In general, healthy magnesium levels from Epsom salt use can help overall bodily inflammation since low magnesium has been linked with higher C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker of inflammation in the body. Make sure you ice your thumb too (put it in a bucket of ice-15 min increments- 3x a day), also keep it wrapped while you work to keep it protected. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I have some horror stories myself 1- with a tractor tire and bosu ball. 2- leg press machine with about 800 pounds on it. Take care of yourself. Quoting: Spirit~Warrior Thanks A bosu ball AND a tractor tire?!?! I just can't picture those two together in any kind of exercise movement! We do not learn from history because our studies are brief and prejudiced. In a surprising manner, 250 years emerges as the average length of national greatness. This average has not varied for 3,000years. The stages of the rise and fall of great nations seem to be: The Age of Pioneers , The Age of Conquests ,The Age of Commerce ,The Age of Affluence ,The Age of Intellect ,The Age of Decadence. Decadence is marked by: Defensiveness, Pessimism, Materialism,Frivolity An influx of foreigners The Welfare State A weakening of religion. Decadence is due to: Too long a period of wealth and power, Selfishness Love of money ,The loss of a sense of duty. The life histories of great states are amazingly similar, and are due to internal factors. Their falls are diverse, because they are largely the result of external causes. - Sir John Glubb The Fate of Empires We are at the end of the Age of Decadence heading into COLLAPSE |

Found this on this mornings' update on April: Giraffe Cam will stay live through the labor and birth. We will not turn off unless instructed so by the vet team. If she is facing the "wrong way" - don't worry we have many other cameras capturing the process and will provide content soon after birth. Evening Update: Corey noted some changes this evening. April's backend has some significant "bulging" occurring. Photo in comments. She was very "with it" but then became very distracted and as Corey put it, "would have walked right through me". Though sounding intimidating; this behavior is what we will see - consistently - when in active labor. She will walk through her strong contractions and push push push. All else is well and fresh air and the outdoors was enjoyed at length today! To know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders.
