I've got some news here....

I got the job I interviewed for last week! I think it's a really good match for me and I'm finally moving more into administration vs. just the hands-on work, which I've wanted. And I got a really good vibe from the Executive Director and all the other people there. I've spoken w/him a few times since then, which only gave me a better vibe. I think he's very upfront and transparent as I am and he's super excited about having me on board, which is a good feeling of course. It's P/T right now, but that's ok because I mainly needed to fill the void from the other job that I lost. The goal is to make this F/T by this time next year. he needs time to not just secure additional funding, but ensure it's ultimately sustainable without having to rely on grants - which I appreciate because I've had many jobs end when the grants ended and I'm tired of that insecurity. As long as my other job holds out for another year or so, this works for me. I will start the week after next, so virtually no time between jobs and I still have half the week off next week.

Perhaps the dues I have paid over all these years have finally paid off.

Update for South Florida

There is no gas never in my life have I ever seen it like this every single gas station has run out of gas and for some reason there isnt any truck deliveries coming down.
Water very very very very hard to get I'm seeing people in that line now screaming for help to find water.
There are lines for over a mile for wood at Home Depot long lines for propane

All flights are cancelled or overbooked
There was a link last night here at the Forum about JetBlue helping people out for $99 but that ran quick like immediately and there are canceling many flights
People who want to leave are finding it very hard because the turnpike is very clogged up

There's a lot of scared people here a lot a lot of people who are not prepared there's a lot of elderly people who have no one

If you guys want I will try and come on here and update what's going on once it starts coming in until I lose electricity or Internet after that please watch the news and know that they're probably going to lie so there you go

Oh and lots of people think they're going to die

For my husband's birthday I got him an Ancestory kit. He has always wondered and we couldn't trace half his family beyond WWII because they were Jewish. Records lost and name changes. It came back today. 46% Jewish from Lithuania area and mutt Great Britain for the rest.

Now he knows and now I am doing more with his genealogy.

I have a friend who lives in Bradenton. Her daughter is pregnant and due any day now. The hospital in Tampa has already advised her that if she goes into labor during the hurricane, she's on her own. The hospital will be in lock down during that time because of the expected storm surge. Nobody will be allowed in or out and all of the doctors & nurses will be on hurricane crew duty.

She's 3cm dilated and at -1 station. I'm figuring she's going to have a surprise home birth. Praying there's no complications.

I am praying for you all over there!

My Sis had a flight booked by my nephew for Sat, but now she says they have no fuel and wont be able to get to the airport and so she is gonna be staying there with 2 other families in what she says is a recentley built house that should be strong enough to keep them safe :(

This is put together by the US Veterans Foundation. Not sure they have to be a Vet to take part.

Florida residents if you can't evacuate on your own call 1-800-955-5504.

Have them try that. It's worth a try. they need to get out now!

Keeping her and everyone else in the danger zone in my most positive thoughts. There are so many heroes in scary times like these who risk their lifes to save others. Medical, police, fire brigades, unnamed heroes. My utmost respect and admiration goes out to all of them. hf
