Dormant volcano ERUPTS for the first time in history and sparks evacuation of entire island - as experts warn explosive magma could cause a TSUNAMIHundreds of residents have forced to evacuate their homes after a surprise eruption from a dormant volcano, carpeting the village below with dust and ash.
A volcanic plume of ash and gases rose more than two kilometres into the air over Kadovar Island off the northeastern coast of Papua New Guinea.
Experts are racing to uncover the cause of the unexpected eruption as lava continues to spew from the volcano, covering more than 50 per cent of the land. [ link to www.dailymail.co.uk] |

Spain’s El Pais reported that between 3,500 and 4,000 cars were blocked on the AP-6 motorway to Segovia all Saturday night waiting for snow blowers to clear the way.
On Sunday morning, around a thousand vehicles remained trapped in the motorway said Spain’s Directorate-General of Traffic (DGT). [ link to www.euronews.com] |
