Simple27 (OP) User ID: 49174015 United States 01/09/2014 04:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | THE CME HAS ARRIVED: As expected, a CME hit Earth's magnetic field on Jan. 9th (around 20:00 UTC or 3 p.m. EST). Although the initial impact was weaker than expected, geomagnetic storms could still develop as Earth passes through the CME's wake. NOAA forecasters are sticking by their prediction of a G3-class event on Jan. 9-10, which means high-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras. How does a CME slow down that much?? I've been wondering the same. Yesterday they were saying midnight going into today, and now I'm seeing midnight tonight going into tomorrow. Is it even possible for it to have been coming so fast and then suddenly slowed down 24 hours? I was wondering if maybe the speed was possibly inaccurate and that may be the cause? I turn to you all for this stuff This whole thing doesn't make sense to me. CME is supposedly hitting yet it is very weak. Sorry hon, I am clueless and if you look at Ninz thread, they don't know either. We all saw the CME images. It was heading to earth and then poof it just disappeared, lol. Left me scratching my head but I will tell you, I have been puzzled over not having the usual symptoms I get when a CME hits or is close to hitting. This makes sense, if I go by that. I have definitely been following her thread and noticed that everyone was a bit baffled by this. Did you see this recent post yet by TS? "It has arrived !! For all of you who may have been looking for a huge initial impact, this is just the beginning of a long G3 watch, the bulk of it has yet to hit ...." But that is strange that you aren't having your usual symptoms I can say that I have had a throbbing headache since early this morning. I don't often get headaches. And this one is intense! I guess we all just wait and see : ) ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Simple27 (OP) User ID: 51550563 United States 01/09/2014 09:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks for sharing that link. Very interesting. From link... “There is no question that it is unusual where it hit,” said Timothy Dixon, a University of South Florida geophysics professor and earthquake expert. “I have no clue why this earthquake happened.” Thursday’s earthquake was the sixth known earthquake between 3.0 and 5.6 magnitude recorded within 125 miles of the area in the past 75 years, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. USGS is showing 5.1 [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] EMSC is showing 5.0 [link to m.emsc.eu] That has taken the back seat to me now that I've read the link you shared. Very much appreciated ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
