West spreading El Nino rumours: India Meteorological Department
Madhvi Sally, ET Bureau Mar 24, 2014, 10.30AM IST

NEW DELHI: Weather scientists from Australia to the US are seeing ominous signs of a 'monster El Nino' that heightens the risk of a drought in South Asia this year, but India's weather office is snarling at these forecasters and accusing them of conspiring to rattle the country's commodities and stock markets. we may have the strongest El-Nino on record later this year. As a result the Atlantic hurricane season would be severely impacted.

E-Pac though is in for a monster season.

Thur Mar 27 - there are still some differences between computer models, but they generally suggest severe thunderstorms in MO (except the southeast boot heel), west and central AR, west-central IL, east KS, east half OK, northwest LA, northeast and east-central TX including Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, and College Station and areas to their east and north. TORCON - 4 northeast
TX, southeast OK, west KS; 2 to 3 rest of area. Isolated severe thunderstorms may push east overnight across east AR and LA. TORCON - 2 to 3
Fri Mar 28 - there are still differences between computer models, but most now suggest that the first upper wave pushes east and away from instability, while another disturbance pushes in and renews a severe threat behind the first area. Scattered severe thunderstorms in the west half of TN, west half AL, MA, north-
east and east-central LA in the first round and east-central and south AR, northwest and west-central LA and east TX in the second round. TORCON - 4 northeast TX, northwest LA, southwest AR; 2 to 3 rest of area
