But what many of them didn’t understand is why their hair began to stand up as they got closer to the mysterious object, and were even more stunned seconds later a blue lights began to strike meters away. Facility chief Vladimir Sysoev says that many were seconds from death, and that it is by pure luck that no one has died during a test.

Last night the National Crisis CoordinationCentre was fully activated after a decision was taken to evacuate the highlands north of Dyngjujökull (part of Vatnajökull glacier). The area is now closed and has been evacuated. These actions were taken following seismic activity around the Bardarbunga caldera in the last few days. The area that has now been closed is both large in size and unpopulated There are still no signs of eruption but these security measures have been taken since it would not be possible to evacuate the area in time should a sub-glacial outburst flood occur from Vatnajökull as a result of an eruption.
At 03.00 the area had been evacuated. A map of the closed area is available at the website of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration: [link to www.vegagerdin.is] In the northwestern part of Vatnajökull glacier the seismic activity is stable, with the main area being northeast of Bardarbunga. Over 300 earthquakes have been detected since midnight. The strongest event was of the magnitude 3.0. Another event happened inside the Bardarbunga caldera and was of the magnitude 2.7.
Today The Coast guard airplane, TF SIF, will make a surveillance flight over the area with scientists and representatives of the Civil Protection, if weather conditions allow. Police and ISAR units will enforce the closure of the area. The situation will continue to be closely monitored.

Please note, as with all Earth based weather forecasts, solar weather also changes on a daily and hourly basis. As such, understand that the following predictions are subject to change at any moment and therefore why the FlareAware alert system is an important tool in your arsenal for following solar weather:

Space weather this week is expected to be mild with brief periods of geomagnetic disturbances, health alerts and even storming through the 22nd due to a coronal hole high speed wind stream and the after effects of a minor CME passage. Solar flare chances are holding steady at a 10% chance for M flares and 1% chance for X class flares. Active regions on the visible Earth side of the Sun are calm at present though mild C flares are probable.

Beyond this week, active geomagnetic conditions are possible the 28th – 26th and 31st of August due to a solar sector boundary crossing and coronal hole high speed winds stream passages. Disturbances are expected once again in September the 1st – 2nd and 6th – 8th due again to coronal hole high speed winds stream passages. Though no other specific events are currently forecasted, Earth directed CME events and severe flaring will quickly void quiet forecasted conditions.

• Due to risk factors associated with geomagnetic disturbances we have released the new Health Plus Plan designed to alert subscribers to periods of increased dangers such as:
• 210% rise in hospitalization due to heart attack
• 150% rise in hospitalization due to stroke
• 160% rise in occurrences of chest pain and irregular heart beat
• 10% - 15% rise in mortality rates, or death, due to the complications mentioned above

To add to these there are also recorded increases of depression, insomnia, suicide, homicide and other violent crimes.
