Whoa! I just looked out my kitchen window (faces west) and the moon was wicked looking! It was just above the horizon and all you could see was the bottom half. It looked like a haze was wafting up toward the top. AND IT WAS COMPLETELY ORANGE. Quoting: JazzyG Could be smoke from nearby wildfires, kind of late in the season for that though. Could be from dust kicked up by the wind today, the wind was nasty here due to the storm front coming in. I'd check it out myself but it's overcast right now. Quoting: Sol Neman I'm in Indiana. It was clear and cold (32) today. No wildfires and the wind was nil. Not even a breeze. idk....weird Quoting: JazzyG If it's dust in the upper atmosphere, it wouldn't need to be windy in your local region. Could be dust from hundreds of miles away or farther. There are traces of Saharan sand found in the Amazon river. Those fine dust particles travel quite far when they get aloft. Might even be ash from a volcano, there's a lot of those going off.
