Simple27 (OP) User ID: 57832527 United States 01/28/2015 11:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm telling ya, my neighbors are THE BEST!! I went outside and was shoveling off the stairs. The wife came outside to do their stairs and I heard the snow blower start up out back. I was JUST about to start the sidewalk when the husband made his way out front and told me not to worry about it and that he would take care of it. Wow! That is HUGE! There's like 2 feet of semi-frozen snow on the sidewalk and he's going to do the whole front of my house. When I can finally get out I am going to get them a nice card with some cash for the gas he's using. And I'll bake them some cookies (good idea Warrior)! ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Other than that we see each other in passing and their 2 daughters have come over and hung out with my daughter, but I'm just friendly. They have helped me with so much. Really great people! ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Simple27 (OP) User ID: 57832527 United States 01/28/2015 03:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NASA's New Robot Will Take the Plunge ... Into a Volcano NASA is gearing up to test an innovative new robot built to explore some of Earth's most inhospitable places: the fiery heart of volcanoes. Engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, are gearing up to drop VolcanoBot 2 inside Hawaii's active Kilauea volcano in March to create a 3D map of its fissures and crevices. And the hardy robot may one day help scientists explore volcanoes on other worlds. VolcanoBot 2, and its predecessor VolcanoBot 1, are designed to fit inside crevices in volcanoes that are too small or too dangerous for humans to explore. The robots are the brainchild of Carolyn Parcheta, a volcanist and NASA postdoctoral fellow based at JPL. [link to www.space.com] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

We have been asked to use ATV-5 to decrease – a little – the ISS altitude, by around 1 km. A lower orbit slightly increases the (already tiny) drag exerted by the wisps of atmosphere on the ISS and, therefore, also increases the decay of the ISS orbit. This allows the visiting vehicles (Progress, SpaceX, Cygnus, &etc.) to bring up to Station a heavier load. [link to blogs.esa.int] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

We have been asked to use ATV-5 to decrease – a little – the ISS altitude, by around 1 km. This allows the visiting vehicles (Progress, SpaceX, Cygnus, &etc.) to bring up to Station a heavier load. [link to blogs.esa.int] From link... It is the first time that an ATV has been used to decrease the altitude; usually, on the contrary, ATV propulsive support is used to lift the orbit due to the regular decay (around 1 or 2 km per month). ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
