To know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders.

A rock in bad hands killed Abel. A rock in good hands killed Goliath. It isn't about the rock.

A true warrior fights not because he hates the one in front of him, but because he loves those behind him.

Not Good...

First the salmon begin to disappear...now this verysad

Eastside Cook Inlet beaches closed to clamming due to low clam population

The closure, that will come into effect on March 1 and continue till the end of the year, will prohibit taking any clam species from Eastside beaches, officials wrote in a press release. The area that will be included in the closure will span the mouth of Kenai River to the southern most tip of Homer Spit.

esy of Carol Kerkvliet / Alaska Department of Fish and Game
Officials say that an abundance study conducted in 2014 revealed that the average number of mature razor clams in the Ninilchik area was roughly a whopping 80% lower than averages taken from previous years.

"The cause of the decline in razor clam abundance on Eastside beaches is unknown but is thought to have resulted from poor spawning and/or settling success," officials wrote.

This is me. The sound is my damn house! UGH!!!!

I was freaked out enough earlier to text my neighbor, my mom, my dad and then my sister (who's husband is an electrician).

My brother in law FaceTimed me and had me walk through my basement, showing him the pipes and different things. He said the noise sounded like a pump. He was right. The sound is coming from my circulator pump. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

Every time my heat kicks on I get this awful noise that is driving me crazy! : (

Sleeping tonight just may not be an option. I have a plumber coming tomorrow morning to look at it. FML!

I swear the sound is similar to that video!!

NASA video shows Sahara Desert fertilizing Amazon Rainforest with dust

A new video from NASA shows how the Sahara Desert produces massive storms which send tons of dust into the atmosphere – much of which is transported across the Atlantic Ocean and deposited in the Amazon Rainforest and the Caribbean.

NASA has measured in 3D how much dust is transported from Africa and how much phosphorous it contains. Phosphorous is an important plant nutrient, though the low supply of it in the Amazon means it has to come from another source.
